totally agree. Brands shouldn t be so precious and let anticipation rise by letting images be released. By the time its ready for demo people will be running in to try. Carefully planned marketing campaigns in print media etc are normally full of turd

Some began speaking negatively about the new gear regarding color or what it might look like. Hell even the name was being mocked. Without any further information people began running with what would be possible reasons for some of the tech listed and whether it was right or wrong, other members began quoting that and it continued on.

all I know is, if the nnfo in the lost thread is true/valid, I will be excited for it and could be my first brand new driver purchase in years. I’ve never paid more than 300 for a driver haha. Looking forward to this one.

This isn't brand new, was the same for Epic 1.0. We (trip guys) had to sign NDAs and couldn't say the name even though everyone knew it. Couldn't post pictures or discuss certain things. They took pictures of me hitting the driver and then sent to me with the driver airbrushed out LoL!!! They are pretty obsessed with controlling the message, which I guess is ok at the end of the day.

 

Anyway, once the Epic was released they let us talk about it and also told us where our kidnapped pets and family members were. And true to their word, none of them had been harmed

ESPECIALLY since most of these yearly releases are basically souped up versions of the previous release with a new wilder and more outlandish marketing story (like leasing AI supercomputers, lol).

I am guessing the rep said so, but corporate has a different opinion on that. I can understand to a degree. I remember the big hoopla when the 815 Alpha pics were released early. I think they tried saying that it was just a concept picture and not an actual picture of the product. Then, it turned out to be an actual picture of the final design. Not only did they step up their technology game, they also overhauled their marketing a few years back. I think they take that just as seriously as the R&D that goes into their clubs.

They definitely have a presence their yet. I don't remember the last time I saw a Callaway employee post anything here that wasn't a Q&A thread. But, given some of the hate I have seen dished out to multiple OEM's here over the years, I understand why. On the other end of the spectrum, they seem to get a huge amount of praise (sometimes over the top) there.

They are definitely an outlier in this industry, at least it seems....as they are pretty militant with restricting info compared to the other guys

 

However this is pretty normal in other industries. In my job I routinely get advanced product information that i am not allowed to disclose.

Things clearly are different today. Years ago, I was given 3 Diablo Forged irons to try on the course even though the Diablo Forged had not been announced by Callaway yet. I liked them, custom ordered a set, and had them before Callaway announced them to the world. I am going to keep an eye out to see if Callaway is going to invite some Golfwrx'ers to Carlsbad to get fitted for some new products. I am having a home built in Florida, my golf cart is already waiting for me to be delivered, and looking forward to being able to play every day. So some new fitted clubs will be in order.

He is the president or vp of something at ogio I believe but he still has pretty big roles with callaway and the clubs marketing as well.
