Literally for "original programming" you want them to hire the pod-bros to re-do an idea...that they already have on every week.

 

TGC is in a no win situation. Their original programming isnt that great but they clearly arent going to pay the high production costs for shows like Big Break or other on location type of shows.

City, can you ask Mrs City what the durability might be like on a headcover made of cork leather? Honestly had never really heard of such a thing. But my minimal knowledge of cork doesnt seem to me that it would lend itself to something thats going to be kicked around out in the elements.

Still looking for 1 at Woodlands tomorrow at 8:53 AM. I don't think I've played it in a couple years. Hoop and Domes are coming up from DC. I've always liked Woodlands. . .I'm interested in what I think about it being a better golfer than I was 2 years ago and having played "my" tricked out, narrow course a lot.

 

I used to think there were some pretty narrow alleys at Woodlands. I'm not so sure I'll think that anymore. It's a funny mix of very short par 4's and long par 4's.

Speaking of Mrs. CityGame's metalwork. My clubs made it back, so I was unpacking stuff last night. My Mrs. CityGame ball marker got some nice patina on it from the Pacific ocean air. It's definitely got a bit of a yellowy hue to it now. It just keeps getting better with age. I'm gonna be one unhappy camper if when I finally end up losing that thing.

Serious question - were there any husband/wives there or was it mostly guy trips? She's actually a half-decent player, mid 90s - low 100s, bombs it off the tee. We've played in Georgia in February so she's not against bad weather golf either.

There were some women there. It was mostly guys, but not all.

 

Having seen her game in person, she'd have no problem with the courses. Like I said - if you can reliably get the ball airborne, and keep it on the planet, you can play those golf courses. If anything, the courses are easier from tee to green than what she likely plays normally. She doesn't need distance help, but the ball bounces and rolls in the fairways there. Then you don't have to carry the ball onto the greens. You can bounce and roll the ball up. You can putt from off the greens all over the place. It's not necessarily easy to make good scores, but it's easy to not make really bad ones.

 

You'd be crazy to not take her if she wants to go.

BTW, DC. . .free solo is playing near me. Same theater is showing Chinatown tomorrow night. I'm somewhere in the air on seeing 1 or both. Free Solo is probably pretty cool in a theater. free Solo is 100% on tomato meter. I read one review of it. Sounds like the climb is interesting, but also the "portrait" of the climber.

Been interesting reading some of the Jimmy Chin interviews where he talks about how it was a real possibility that they could be filiming when his friend plummets of a cliff. Really looking forward to it, its playing at a few theaters down here but we got Imax tix for First Man this weekend, that will probably be movie time.

 

BTW I dont know if I mentioned it in last weeks movie talk, but Sicario 2 turned out to be pretty decent. Another one I had low expectations but they were easily met.

Edit: I used something that had a cork back... and it was trbl. Ask Rick...

As for straight cork that is painted? I cannot imagine it holds up well. Could be wrong, but dewy rounds would chew them up. Plus the general humidity around here can't be good.
