New Odyssey Stroke Lab putters

I am in no way trying to be negative or hateful here. To those who really want Odyssey to release the White Hot/White Hot Pro again, it makes no financial sense. I love this insert as well but us WRX’ers are not the masses. I get that they could put the White Hot insert into a few of these new styles but if they release a whole new line on an old insert, it is essentially Odyssey saying “All the lines that we have brought out since the White Hot are not as good.” No company would run the risk of portraying that message.

Having decided that the PING Sigma 2 Tyne 4 is most likely too heavy for me, I find myself more drawn to this line for 2019. The 7s and the 2 Ball Fang S have my attention.

Has this line been confirmed? If yes, is there a rumored release date?

Definitely confirmed. They look good in person. Shaft feels great. And insert has a nice click to it. Don’t they normally release on or after the pga show week ?

I am delighted to hear that. Do Odyssey usually release their lines around PGA Tour show week? Did you find the Stroke Lab line firmer than the O-Works and Sigma lines?

To me yes. Solid click. But I’m not 100% sure on the makeup of the whole line. I assume they all have same face. I’m not sure on their normal release time. But that’s when I’d bet on for this time around.

Yep. Odyssey is complete garbage. I'd hate to say it but who the hell wants to buy this B.S. technology.

Just make a premium White Hot and get it over with. Literally haven't like a single putter they came out with since 1998.

good thing you're in the minority I mean with them being the number one brand in putters and everything. They appear to be doing something correct

By minority you mean someone who realizes that they are in the pay for play business thus #1 in "putters". Just like how TM is #1 in drivers. Yawn. Don't believe the hype and stop being one of the many sheep in the golf industry.

Only stat that matters is sales and Odyssey is #1 and has been for years. Kinda like Titleist is #1 in ball, Callaway is #1 in woods, irons, and hybids.

On tour - only players paid to play an Odyssey putter have an Odyssey Logo on their hat. If they don't, they aren't paid to play it.

As for the tech - The white hot insert is the best feeling face on the planet IMO but I applaud them for always trying to improve. Not sure why it seems to bother you so much. At least they try unlike other companies who just bring out the same milled putter for 30 years with varying sizes of circles and paint schemes.

You positive about that? I was under the impression that when Callaway does full bag deals they're required to play an Odyssey/Toulon putter (thus being paid to do so). Stenson doesn't have an Odyssey logo on his hat but ditched his FedEx winning Piretti when he signed a full bag deal and swapped it for a #7. Hmm. Regardless, I still think Odyssey would be #1 on tour even without the Pay for Play. I don't necessarily think that would be the case for Titleist and certainly not for TM.

That information is straight from the people that run Callaway/Odyssey not a field rep.

I have gotten to play with one of the Marxman with toe hang. I use a Two Ball Fang currently. Great feel, soft and super stable. The ball rolls great off the new insert. Love it !!

Please tell me that it is firmer feeling than the O-Works.

Does not feel like the O-works. For me it feels like the ball rolls out more with the same stroke.

It would actually make a lot of financial sense because it's been done by many companies including Odyssey and the White Hot insert. I promise you they will release more putters at some point in the future with the white hot insert. In fact they will do it over and over again.

I totally agree with you here j13, except for the fact that I'm not so sure that they will do it over and over again. I hope that I am wrong, but it seems to me that it's all Callaway's call at the end of the day, and they are totally full of themselves at this point in time. That's my perception, and what I mean by that is the cynic in me sees them pushing all of this "visual technology" that at some point reaches an end because there are less people buying golf clubs, plus the ones in the know understand what I am talking about. Then what? I can see them really screwing things up, I just hope that you are 100% correct.

Tuttle looks just like the Scotty Cameron Caliente.

I thought the same - or at least that there are some obvious similarities.

I really hope the 2 is in the retail release. I like this new take on the Versa paint scheme, much more aesthetically pleasing.

Wait you mean companies copy each other?

I wonder when someone will copy the Indy.

Not many putter companies make a putter using 3 materials. Aluminum, 303 SS and carbon fiber.
