Home course (Local Open Qualifier) £550 a year.

 

I'll spend a few hundred a year playing some of top courses around Scotland. We get discounted rates or can play as guests of members if possible. Kings barns £25, Archer field £50, Dornoch £50 and Mackrihanish for £50 all this year.

In Chicagoland, the golfing season is about 7 months long, so I can get in about 40-50 rounds in a good year. I mainly play public tracks that range from $30’s to $80’s, with a few splurges on $100+ rounds now and then. I don’t track expenditures, but I’d estimate about $3000-$3500 for the year, including an annual golf trip that stays in the Midwest.

 

On a side note, I’ve considered unlimited annual memberships for $3000-$5000 at several local public/semi-private courses. I like the idea of unlimited practice access, regular games with the same guys, being able to go play 6,10 or 12 holes, and getting my per-round cost down by cramming in more spur-of-the moment play. But, I really enjoy exploring new courses and mixing up the courses I play. This year alone, I’ve played 41 rounds so far on 27 different courses. I’m afraid I’ll get bored playing the same course all the time, but I’d feel compelled to play 90%+ of my golf at any course I joined.
