Ping Sigma2 Putters

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised to see PING go against some of the customer feedback on this line. Maybe they have their reasons, I'm not sure.

- The overwhelming feedback I heard was that people wanted a firmer feel to the insert. Not softer.

- Lots of people were wanting the Tyne to be offered with slightly less weight. This release the weight is basically the same - 365 or 370.

The only downside to the new grip system is how does one attach Game Golf or Arccos sensors ?

I don't think PING was concerned with another company's issue. If there was a partnership, then I could see it.

whenever coming up with a product design one must consider all factors that could affect sales negatively.

I wonder if once adjusted if a tag could be placed into the grip ?

Won't adjusting the length change the lie angle and SW a little? Just wondering. I pretty much have no interest in an adjustable putter anyway so it doesn't matter to me.

Length does not change lie angle how the putter is held effects lie angle. Yes changing the length effects swing weight. Almost all manufacturers use the same putter/head weight for all lengths anyways.

I so longed for the Tyne and Tyne 4 to be sub 360g. I have to think that I am in the majority.

Is the Sigma 2 insert definitely softer than the original Sigma?

I love the idea of an adjustable putter shaft. Ideally I'd play at 34.25" but just deal with a 34" because I don't care to fiddle with an extra quarter inch.

Yep. This is great for the OCD crowd. Which is a healthy percentage of WRX obviously!

I feel like Ping is just re-releasing the same putters with different colors on the sole...good stuff but is length adjustability really going to make someone buy a new $200+ putter?

I just spoke with Ping Customer Service. The guy I spoke with said that CS still doesn't have all the info about the Sigma2 line, but they should have more info later this week. He did tell me that it would still be possible to order a Sigma2 with a non-adjustable shaft if you wanted to try different grips or counterbalance weights to offset the head weight if it seems too head-heavy.

I am not trying to be that annoying person on here but hopefully a few can help me out here. I am debating pulling the trigger on the Vault Dale Anser but wanted to roll the Sigma 2 first before committing.

Am I right in thinking that since I have found PING’s last few insert lines of putters being the Scottsdale TR, Cadence TR and Sigma G too soft for my liking, will I in all likelihood find the Sigma 2’s too soft? Feel is subjective but I am trying to think about this logically.

Ping is releasing some great looking stuff lately

Wow! You play a Newport 2 and you actually think these are great looking stuff? :swoon:

So really, a putter with a big hole in the middle of it so someone can stuff their club down into the cup and tear it up is a great idea! It's just gotten way out of control with what companies will do to sell golf clubs. Not just with this line, but Ping have been slowly creeping into the crackpot territory.

The Fetch will keep every green keeper up at night.

Yeah, this is just a bizarre offering. If someone was to figure out on their own, "oh, I can get a ball out of the hole with this," fine. But to market it and name it "Fetch", c'mon man.

Plus, good luck keeping the thing from looking like hell after shoving it into the hole over and over again. They should sell this without a headcover because it won't help.

Honestly, more than 50% of the people I play with don't even use headcovers on their putters. All their clubs look like they've rattled around in a trunk for a decade.

Most golfers aren't WRX members, where a tiny scratch causes enough anxiety (or justification) to buy another club! That happened to me, just saying....

They should give it a hammered raw finish. Let it rust and look like a truck ran over it. I actually think it would be a pretty cool look, and make the damage less obvious.
