Help with picking iron shafts

his weekend I went to the PGA SS and tried the JPX 919 tours with the mizuno shaft optimizer. Lovely iron btw, I am definitely going to be buying them eventually.

 

I have played DG S300 forever and have never had an iron fitting so I was excited to see what shafts the optimizer recommends.

 

The shaft optimizer spit out the following numbers:

85-3-3-4-3 and the top four recommended shafts were: KBS C taper lite S, modus 105 S, DG S105 and PX LZ 5.5

 

I was very confused why the shaft optimizer was recommending light weight shafts but when I tried them they all felt fantastic. Given my smooth tempo, I think a lighter shaft was helping me swing faster without trying to add extra umph in the downswing. In fact, my spin, launch and carry numbers with all 4 shafts were almost identical on the GC2.

 

 

What are the typical characteristics of those 4 shafts ? The KBS felt slight boardy and the modus 105 to have more kick in the tip section. I couldnt tell apart b/w DG 105 and PZ LZ 5.5.

 

 

Maybe I'll try them again and I might feel differently. What should I keep an eye for when I try them next ?

Does the shaft optimizer "rank" the recommendations?....seems like a lot of options...and not enough narrowing down.....(maybe that's the future)
