The driver is amazing. Had the chance to see it yesterday and it is a low spin monster. It looks even better in person. It will be extremely popular among high swing speed players. Mizuno is stepping up their game big time.

He has always been a bit of a Putter Ho, the only guy I really know of who has gone from one type of putter to another in events from one week to the next. He has rocked a plumber neck anser style no line, center shaft zing style, mallets, CB blade with long grip, now this #9 style with face line. All of them beauties in there own right, just crazy how many different styles he has actually putt in play. Not to mention the difference in stroke types that they are supposed to suit.

He has announced on his Twitter that he is now officially a Mizuno staffer.

I'm surprised there isn't more chatter about these drivers. Is there a dedicated thread somewhere that I'm missing?

 

Anyone have a scoop on release, MSRP, stock shaft, etc?

 

I'm guessing the one without the sliding weights will be about 100 dollars cheaper, maybe set up to be higher launch and higher spin?

 

Nice to see a discrete loft. I hope that makes it to retail. I'm not a fan of having only a single loft choice and having to eat a face angle change to get the loft I want.

Think the drivers are going to be a big hit. Definitely look the part, similar to how Cobra's F8 just looked like the perfect driver. I am interested to see how the new Mizuno performs as in the past they have been almost Titleist-esque in their middle of the road, non-marketing, limited performance. Hopefully the same impact and jump forward as the TS ranges have done for Titleist.

Nice. Seems like a huge leap forward for Mizuno's "other than irons" business. Hopefully he will stick with it.

 

I hit the JPX 850 driver at a demo day a couple years ago and would easily have put that sucker in the bag.

 

If they do catch on, the only unfortunate thing will be it's effect on the price of used Mizuno woods. They've been a source of super cheap, super high quality clubs for awhile.
