$300 dollar budget bag challenge

I am on the hunt for some irons and wedges for this set up. I am going to hit up some thrift stores this week and see what I can find. I went to the local play it again stores and there were some good deals, but I wasn't in love with anything. Hopefully will have this done by the end of next week.

Put my $300 bag together-- Easy for me since I work in a golf shop. Driver is a Nike Vapor/Diamana s60+, 3 wood Cobra bio-cell, irons Callaway Proto's, Putter Ping Anser2, Wedge 54 degree Vokey SM4. Driver $40, 3 wood $30, Irons $120, Putter $20, Wedge $20. Also, picked up a nice Mizuno carry bag at Goodwill for $5 !! total $235.00

ie - My boss had a bad round with his PXG's, so he gave them to me. He didn't like his Cameron bag and putter either, so they were given to me as well. Now my entire bag cost me less than $300. Yay.

Exactly. Your irons alone routinely sell on eBay between $325-$450, so your bag would be closer to $450-$600. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that you got a deal on your irons. They just don't fit in a truly less than $300 retail bag challenge. Whatever - doesn't really matter anyway.

Like I said, the prices for a nice 4-pw set are all over the place ... from $200 to $600. The average sale price appears to be $300 +. This is what the OP is talking about.

 

And no, the OP isn't using PGA trade values, which are always mega low. He is talking about putting a set together for approximately the average price that you can typically purchase the used items for.

 

If you want to have your own contest for cheap shop scores, or mega ebay deals, great. Hell, have your own competition for PGA value guide budget bag. It's totally different than what the OP is talking about.
