I was at a shop yesterday and want to get my wedges to match up. I have a Callaway MD 46, 50, and 54 (bent 55) and my baby Hi toe in the bag. Now, if TM jumped and went down to 46, I’d put them all in the bag, no problem.

I think next year is the year that I swap out all the Callaways though. Keep the hi tow and go jet black SM7s.

Change my mind TM!!!

I got the 50 and 56 2 weeks ago to go with my 60, they are both currently on Ebay, hate the 50, and barely use the 56, so gone back to my SM6's, still keeping the 60 though

Out of interest what was so bad about the 50?

I'm loving my 56 and 60 so was considering buying a 52 or 50

Curious as well!

Just got a 52*9 in and like it after a range session. . . . putting it in play monday so ill post my own opinion then.

How do these feel? Current have 2 sets of wedges... Cobra Trusty's and MD4's. MD4's seems to spin alright but the feel off a ProV1X is very hard and clicky. The Cobra's are a hair softer and seem to spin more. Had my eye on the original hi toe as I tend to use a LW for most shots inside of 40 yards.

Softest wedges I've ever had were the MD2's but they didn't spin much. Vokey's were pretty soft, same with RTX 3.

Spin is fine. I get 9000 rpm average with my stock 62 shot, 8300 with 58. All off mats/launch monitor fwiw. I can open it up and get close to 12000 on them.

Medium firmness. Not too soft to sacrifice responsiveness, not too hard to loose feel. I waited to order the 52 till I confirmed the feel part

Swing types and pitching/chipping techniques vary so much it's impossible to render one particular design superior over another. It's cool that there are so many options in terms of loft, bounce, grind, flange size, etc.

I absolutely love my Hi-Toe. I have a 64 bent down to 62 with the original ATV grind. Strengthening it 2 degrees decreased the bounce slightly, but I play nearly all of my greenside shots with the face 30 degrees open or more, which reintroduces the bounce. This is the most versatile wedge I've ever played and handles all lies and turf conditions well the way I've got it configured.

This is my first wedge with over 60 degrees of loft. One interesting side note is that even though it's 2 degrees weaker than my previous 60s, I still hit it the exact same yardage, but with a LOWER trajectory. I guessing it must have something to do with COG, or maybe the Hi-rev shaft?

...anyway, such a great wedge I actually bought a backup!

The 50 just didn't feel nice to me, the 60 was fine because i never hit the 60 with a full swing, but hitting the 50 on a full swing just felt like i was hitting a range ball, i put the SM6's back in the bag at the weekend and the difference was very noticeable.

I've actually just got the SM7's, feel wise its night and day, looks wise as well, the SM6's & 7's do look nicer at address

I remember becu wedges from years back and did fall for the HI Toe copper finish, and i would definitely recommend the higher lofts, the lower lofts not so much

I bought a 58 Hi-Toe yesterday at the Golftown demo sale and tho I was on the fence, I figured I really had nothing to lose at the price and I was intrigued by its looks.

I played 18 today and was quite surprised how easy the club was to align. Whether it's the longer/higher face or how the toe starts to curve a bit earlier along the leading edge, I found it really, really easy to align. Not that other wedges are difficult to align but the Hi-Toe really appealed to my eye as I was preparing to swing.

Thinking about some more, I wonder if it's the shorter groove line at the bottom of the face that appealed to me?

I'll admit I'm going to think hard about getting a 54 Hi-Toe now.

On the dealer site today

Standard sole -50/09 52/09 54/10 Grooves do not go all the way across the face.

4 way sole - 56/10 58/10 60/10 Grooves DO go all the way across the face.

4 way sole is your typical C grind option ( M grind for Vokey) - will add bounce when played open.

Shouldn't the M grind play with less bounce when opened, with its heel relief?

  • 3 weeks later...

Played with an ajga kid who had a 50, 54* and 60*. They look really good

Agreed. I looked at a new 52 recently and I was surprised by how much I liked the look. Definitely going in the bag next spring.

I also liked the minor changes on the 58 and 60 with the 4-way sole. The slight refinements to the leading edge and toe transition were a little more pleasing to my eye than the original Hi-Toe.

Yes. That is the hidden gem with this wedge and the pm grind. Cog placement. You can flight this cog much easier than a standard wedge.
