Custom Mr Beasley - Origins?

I recently picked up the Rife Mr. Beasley that you see below. It appears that 'he' has seen a bit of custom work along the way (white finish, paint-fill, custom neck, ports milled into the sole). I don't know the head weight just yet, but 'he' feels heavy. The putter is face balanced, maybe even a little toe up.

 

Anyone know who may have done the work? I'm leaning toward Lamont or Slighter but am not certain.

 

Also, the chipped neck is visible at address and will annoy. What would you do to this head? Doesn't appear to be a single ding anywhere.

 

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This is the direction I'm leaning in. Was contemplating starting with the neck, directly above the weld.

Id guess Tom due to his affiliation he had/ has with rife. Im sure he could very quickly tell you if its his work. Nice snag. Love the beasley.

I will send out a feeler to Mr. Slighter and see where the message takes me. The neck and finish appear to have been completed by a professional. If it's Tom's work I may send for a refinish and a Slighter stamp over the winter.

 

Here's where we are right now . . .

 

I taped off the neck and stripped the paint. A total bugger in the 'nooks and crannies' that took 5 attempts. My wife liked the white head so I did what any self respecting husband would do and added a white Grip Master for her ; )

 

The previous owner must have been a WRXer as he/she crammed 47 grams of lead tape and a screw down the butt end of the shaft to counterbalance. What a pain to remove. Explains why the putter felt so darn heavy.

 

Feels perfectly balanced and the lie angle appears spot on now that I've cut the shaft and re-gripped. Excited to give the 'Mr. B' a roll.

Answering my own question. So it turns out that Lamont Mann performed the custom work on this Mr. B. At 379 grams he's on the portly side. A small 'diet' and fresh 'makeover' is in order. He'll be handsome and ready from this big dance in no time.

So happy with the finished results. Mann Java. Now tips the scales at 370 grams and has been set to my preferred specs.

I was going to suggest it was Lamont. He has said previously that he was doing white finishes before white was cool. I believe him!

Thank you for the kind comments. The Mr. B has been in the bag the past two weekend. I don’t know if it’s the neck, but the putter feels more solid than the other Mr. B that I’ve owned. Also seems to roll the ball further with less effort. A good stick all around. Found an exact colour match to the paint fill in a Best Grip leather that I had in a box at home. Looks so smart.

370 is beefy for anything longer than 33". I have so many friends that struggle with distance, and then I notice they are using 360 or 370 at 35". (Scratches head)
