Mizuno mp 53 still relevant?

Just wondering how these would stack up against my current gamers the Wilson d100’s I’ve wanted some mizuno irons for a while found a set cheap and thought I’d try them out

D100's are going to be a good amount more forgiving with more offset than the MP53's. that being said, they have a cult following and rightfully so, as they're the most forgiving MP made. If your striking has gotten better and you feel you're ready to make the jump, you'd be hard pressed to find a better iron.

What he said above, one thing to note through is you will probably give up some distance. The wilsons probably have stronger lofts and a hotter face.

I’ve gamed the mp53 for the last 5 years and i can say they are uber forgiving, before i was gaming callaway x22 tour and not only didn’t suffer on distance, i’ve gained so much consistency. I recently switch to the i200 cause the grooves were dead and i move on to nippon from DG. Maybe you’ll loose some distance vs D100’s but will gain some consistency

What is your opinion of the nippon since moving on from DG?

I am contemplating on making this change myself, with some Mizuno's I am buying next month

i found them better feeling and a touch less spin. I move from s300 stock to a modus 120x, hit them same distance but much straight and medium height. If you want something more stout the c tapper’s can be an option but imo, the modus is the best feeling steel shaft i’ve ever hit to date

I found the MP 54’s to be better for my game than the 53’s. Everyone is different though.

The MP54 and 53 are very close in forgiveness. The 54 launched a little higher than I wanted. The 53’s are my choice of the two but as the poster above notes,

some like the 54’s more. I just clicked immediately with the 53’s. Felt great, a little more penatrating flight.

 

Both remain very relevant. The clubs are more than willing to shoot low scores.

Yep, MP53s are as good as any new offerings in the category. Gonna resurrect my set to build an old school backup bag, although my gamers are MP57s which might be even older than the 53s if I remember correctly.
