What time of the year? A summer trip to Central Wisconsin would be fantastic. You could hit TPC Deere Run along the way, and possibly Eagle Ridge (General), before heading to University Ridge in Madison. From there I would head to Wild Rock in the Dells, Sand Valley (Mammoth Dunes and Sand Valley), Lawsonia Links (Links), Erin Hills, The Bull at Pinehurst Farms, and finish at Whistling Straits.

Indianapolis also has some excellent courses, and you could stop at French Lick on the way.

Have you ever been to Branson, MO? I haven't yet, but it's on my to-do list.

Indianapolis has a bunch of great courses. Trophy Club, Bear slide, Prairie View, The fort, Purgatory all within 30-45 minutes from downtown Indy (even closer if you stay north of the city). Also, about 90 minutes north of Indy right up I-65 there are two great Courses at Purdue and Coyotee Crossing right there as well, can’t go wrong with any of them.

I think Wisconsin has the better courses, but you certainly can't go wrong with Indianapolis/French Lick/Lafayette. You could also hit Harrison Hills in Attica, IN on the way.

From St. Louis, live in Chicago and spend a ton of time in Indy (fiance is from there). Playing French Lick is one thing, I would play the 2 courses there and not go to Indy. Indy's courses are fine, but nothing special.

You could always do Chicago, we a have a ton of courses, you could spend a bunch of time playing good and different courses. You could always play something in central Ill on the way up. If you focusing on golf and don't care about the city (I don't), then you could stay west suburbs, naperville area, and be 30 minutes or so from Cog Hill 4, Cantigny (27 holes), Highlands of Elgin, and Mistwood for example.

I agree with the Wisconsin mention, that would be my pick. That is the best option, and there are courses on the way and back as well. You could always take advantage of the Whistling Straits spring deal, which is a great deal and you can get awesome weather.

I did not even think of Whistling Strights. That would be a course to remember.

Depends on your budget. If price is not really a factor, Wisconsin wins everyday. You could hit the 4 Kohler courses and Erin Hills, or you could go the Central Wisconsin route and opt for Sand Valley, Sentry World, Lawsonia, etc. Wisconsin has so much world class golf to choose from you would have a few options. I'm sure they have some deals going on in early Spring.
