Srixon Z star

I have been playing the AVX all season and was given some ZStar (regular version) this week. I was a little disappointed but decided to play them and I went out and shot a 73 (good round for me) in my club championship. Was it a lucky day or do others really like this ball? I cannot find much positive about this ball. It all seems to be the CV or nothing. I do like a softer feeling ball.

Played Srixon for 3-4 years, mostly the Z-star. Also played the XV. Still play them sometimes. Really liked them. I don't think they spin as much as ProVs but you just have to get used to that and allow for a little more runout on chips. Also Srixons are really good in the wind.

I have a 94 mph golf swing, and really like the Sri on line up. Which ball do you think would better suit that swing speed, a qst, or a z-star?

I recall a Titleist area manager saying they regarded Srixon as their biggest rival. The Z-star is a match for any V1 and their lower priced balls outsell everything in the UK.

Z Stars are perhaps my favorite ball, especially the yellow, er, TOUR Yellow.

 

Last week I won my league championship using 1.

 

ProV1's are great balls, but IMO Z Stars are better.

I'm a big fan of the Z-Star and am back on them now after running out of original K-Sigs. I like the feel, green side spin is excellent and distance seems similar to most other balls (I'm not a human trackman).

This will be my ball for the next few months without question. Can’t argue with the result and they are certainly cheap at the moment.

I’m a fan of the Z-Star myself. I used to play them and then went around trying other brands with varying success. Last season, I went back and picked up a dozen of the Z-Stars and have been very impressed. I am really enjoying the current version in particular. Great in the wind and just the right amount of spin for me.

As a tinkerer, part of me is curious to see what else is out there, but right now I have decided to stay put with the Z-Star. I did not play as much this season as I would have liked but this ball just performed when I needed it to. I have built a lot of trust with it so “Why mess with a good thing?”

Z-Star is a 5 star ball. Does everything well. Honestly Srixon's entire line-up is best in class.

 

XV gets more hype and is equally awesome depending on your needs. Z-Star will give a tad more greenside spin and softer feel while XV is longer roll out and firmer feel. Honestly they are really similar and I LOVE both.

 

When they are on sale or previous models you cannot beat the value vs performance.

The Z-Star is the most underrated ball on the market... Just as good of a ball as the Pro V1 in my opinion.

Most greenside spin,nope. Longest, nope. Best in wind, nope. Softest feel, nope.

 

With all these no's as absolute best in class it ranks 8 or 9/10 in every category making it perhaps the best all around ball in top end class while fitting a large portion of the market amazingly well. Kudos srixon

Longest - Yep

Best in Wind Yep

Softest - nope

Green side spin - nope but good

recently played the zstar xv in the wind...... I normally don't play in the wind since it's not windy in the early am's here in southern california. But anyways, the last 3 rounds have been in fairly windy conditions. I wasn't too thrilled with my results. It seemed as if the ball was 1 club shorter than i expected. what i thought would be a 1 club difference ended up being 2-3 clubs.

 

brought out the new bridgestone's and I honestly feel they played much better in windy conditions. What I thought would be a 1 club difference, in fact ended up being only a 1 club difference.

 

I know it's not going to be the same results for everybody.......but just wanted to share my personal experience. Srixons still beat out the bridgestones in durability. I can play the same ball for a couple rounds. The bridgestone will last me about 1 round max.

If I were you with that swing speed, I would go with the Q Star Tour. I've put a lot of guys onto that ball at the golf course I'm working at now, and every single one have been glad I have. Especially for the price!

Love the z-star. ProV1 "clone" to me...very little difference along any dimension (feel, green side spin, driver distance, etc.).

I’ve been playing the ProV1 for a few months now but got a dozen Z Stars on sale. For me, they spin a little more with the driver, which for me is a good thing, and have slightly more bite with the short irons. The ball isn’t spectacular, but it does everything well, and works really well for my game.

Yeah...just ordered a couple dozen of the XV. For me, it's the best ball. My only struggle with it has been my swing miss...OTT and lots of spin. When my swing is dialed (more often lately) the XV outperforms the others. The AVX is similar in the long game. Long. I've hit some big drives consistently with the XV. Makes the game easier for me.
