Hey WRX!

 

Its officially fall golf season in the midwest. My bag has been set most of the year so I thought I’d take some time to share. All in all its not super exciting. I tinker waaaaaaaay too much with golf clubs so I’m hoping to stick with these for a while. Besides the putter, I bought them all new this year. My college has a club deal with Titleist so I get a hefty discount on clubs. Currently a 12 handicap. My goal is to break comfortably into the single digits by next season.

 

At least until I get enough money to buy the TS line…

 

I picked up the Linksoul bag a couple months ago and absolutely love it. I sold my Jones Utility a while back and have been looking for a solid replacement ever since. I like the Jones, but ultimately ended up selling it because it honestly wasn’t comfortable to walk with for me. I couldn’t be happier with the Linksoul. Its has a better shoulder strap in my opinion, 4 compartment top, plenty of pockets, and it still has a smaller footprint that makes walking with this a breeze. I’d highly recommend one if you can find one!

 

 

 

On to the clubs…

 

Driver - Titleist 917 D2 - 9.5* - C3 Hosel Setting - Rogue Max 65 Gram Stiff

 

I know people have gripes about this club, but its been one of the best drivers I’ve ever hit. I hit the fairway more and its just as long, if not longer, as any driver I’ve tried. It’s going to be tough kicking this club out of the bag due to how comfortable I am with it.

 

Fairway - Titelst 917 F2 - 16.5* - A1 Hosel Setting - Rogue Max 75 Gram Stiff

 

I honestly don’t use this club often. I could probably do without a 3 wood. I hit if from the tee on occasion, but rarely ever from the turf. It gets the job done when I need it to so as long as I carry a 3 wood, it’ll probably be this one.

 

Hybrid - Titelst 818 H2 - 23* - A1 Hosel Setting - Rogue Max 85 Gram Stiff

 

This has been the money club this year. From the tee, from the turf into par 5’s, this club has got me out of a lot of trouble and got me into a lot of birdies.

 

Irons - Titleist 818 AP3 - 5-PW - KBS Tour Stiff - 2* flat

 

I got fitted for these clubs at the beginning of the year. It was my first experience with getting clubs fitted and my god did it make a difference. The lie angle adjustment worked wonders for me. Its safe to say these won’t leave the bag until they break

 

Wedges - Titleist SM6 - 48*, 52*, 56*, 60* - Vokey Wedgeflex

 

I carry 4 wedges due to the lofts of the AP3’s being strong. The PW is 43* so its quite a gap between that and a 52*. I was playing 48, 54, 50 but added a 56 and bent the 54 to 52 to better help with gapping. Very very happy with these.

 

Putter - Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Notchback - 34in

 

I switched from a Nike Origin B2-01 to a Taylormade Spider Tour to this. Honestly one reason being I have OCD and it bugged me playing a full Titleist bag with a Taylormade Spider. HOWEVER, after switching from a blade like I’ve played my whole life, I never fully got along with the Spider. I have the 20gram weights in the bottom and it feels marvelous.

 

 

 

Headcovers and Goodies

 

I was born and raised in Madison, WI so people often wonder how the hell I became a Vikings fan. Long story short, I have family ties in Minneapolis. I’m a huge football and hockey fan so I went through Golf Iconic and got these covers done. It took a few months for them to be made, but it was so worth it. I highly recommend them! Being that my family has land 5 minutes from Sand Valley, its a shame that I played there for the first time only 2 weeks ago. Although it was cold and spitting rain, the course was awesome! After playing the big boy course we played a round on the par 3 Sandbox and it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had on a golf course. Had to get a couple covers to commemorate it.

 

For the goodies I carry a Scotty Cameron divot tool, Lamb Crafted Doughnut, a couple of Viking ball markers to piss off my Packer fan friends and a couple tees from a country club I work at in Madison. I’m switching between the Titleist Prov1x and the Vice Pro ball. Both are awesome.

Nice bag! Cool to see the NLU tees as well! How do you find the Vice ball compares to the Pro V1? I bought some vice pro last year but found them too soft for my liking...wish I bought the pro plus

The verdict is still out for me. I agree with you about the softness but I tend to like it. I'm obviously a Titleist loyalist, but its also hard to beat the price on the Vice balls.

sweet bag. I'd like to give the ap3's a try, as I hit ap2's now. I'm not too sure about the strong lofts, but I could always adjust haha.

They're soooo easy to hit and you can hit a 7 iron longer than your friends. Whats not to like? Hahaha
