Cobra's new King F9 Speedback Driver, Woods, Hybrids and Irons (NO BUY SELL TRADE POSTS)

I hit this one yesterday. Also hit the new 3 and 5 woods Loved those !

Are the claims true? Would you bag it?

I can’t honestly answer much about the driver excerpt for its looks and feel. The one I played with wasn’t close to my specs. I will say the fairways woods were awesome. I’m not sure if the irons I used are a new release or not but the all black forged irons were super cool. I hit a bunch of great irons with them.

Okay.....to your eye, did it seem 460-ish or slightly smaller? I saw Z785 in person and it didn't have the same appeal as the pics did....it seemed too short /not deep enough front to back....

Feel/sound as subjective but this has a solid metallic thwack sound from the videos ....yay or nay?

Best fairway woods in the biz. F6 Baffler prob my favorite club of all time.

f8 5 wood might be mine. f6 is amazing also, perfect size.

im kinda bummed they are sticking with two sizes. f6 and f7 size was uniformly better, right in the middle

Not bad, but did they really need to put “cnc milled” on the face?!? Otherwise, the driver looks good to me. But that one thing really bugs me for some reason.

I completely agree it’s a little cheesy

Does Cobra need to put jailbreak on their clubs? It’s marketing, although I do agree it feels like Cobra put a billboard on a van.

Early reviews are stating this driver is an absolute beast. I cannot wait to give it a whirl!!!

Smash factors above 1.55? If so, I’m in.

Not sure if this is sarcasm or if you saw someone claim that they achieved super high smash factor numbers (haven't read up on this lineup much yet).

I like the looks of this driver. Look forward to seeing it in person. I thought the F8 looked underwhelming. I just got used to the Ping G400 LST crown, so a little bit of noise on the top isn't too bad.

Ughhhh, I don’t know... I’m definitely not replacing my TS2 anytime soon, and I just got my CLK hybrid in the mail but I will say it looks like Cobra has a winner in the new hybrid.

Driver looks horrific.

Fairway doesn’t look too bad, I like how they made it a little more shallow but the crown looks like something my 3 year old would draw up.

Driver looks pretty good but everything else is not too good looking at all. The irons are very poorly shaped and clunky looking. Not sure what they were thinking. Maybe they'll look better in person but first impression isn't too good unfortunately.

Read an article on the science behind the boxy shape....I'll see if I can find the link.

We need to look thru the eyes of a player seeking maximum forgiveness in a

GI / SGI iron. Many like to see the weighting and high tech badging .

As for "cluncky looking" ...yes...but that is part of the appeal for the SGI

player. Their other models ( forged models) do a better job of hiding the tech,

and appeal to the purists looking for a little extra forgiveness.

Love the Driver and Fairways, the hybrids are nothing to write home about, just a bland run of the mill hybrid. They need the same milled face annd my fly treatment as the driver and fairways. The irons are an exceercise in how to not sell golf clubs. If I owned a store I wouldn't carry a single set, they'd just collect dust.

I am fairly new here, but the universal obsession with form over function is strange to me. Looks are semi important, but it seems as though people here write off a product on looks alone with no regard for how it performs...

Obviously, until we get to hit them, all of the claims are academic, but I am quite excited to hit these irons. The claims they make about performance and design seem to suit me very well, and the looks are just about irrelevant.

For the record, I don't hate the looks, I just don't feel strongly about them either way.

Its simple really.

When no-one has hit them, all you have to talk about is looks. Happens at the start of every new club thread but once people get them in their hands the discussion quickly shifts to performance.

OK... So here's the thing... Like it or not; LOOKS MATTER!

All the tech in the world doesn't make a bit of difference if you look down at the club and think; "ew". A massive part of making clean contact is confidence. We all know that it doesn't actually matter what a club looks like, but if it fails to suit your eye, you simply won't swing it with the same amount of confidence as something that does. There are plenty of guys who've been playing butter knives for years, who wouldn't be able to hit something 1000x more forgiving to save their life. No matter how well these drive a golf ball, there will be a TON of people who simply can't hit them, based solely on looks. Much to the chagrin of the "substance over style" crowd, buying a club that you feel more confident hitting because you think it's pretty... is a valid point of view. Conversely, I'm sure that many others won't give a rat's @$$ what the club looks like and will be smashing F9s down fairways while the style crowd winces in horror. Everyone's different.

As for me???

Unfortunately, the majority of this F9 lineup simply doesn't ring my bell, and I'm a HUGE fan of Cobra's long clubs. I upgraded my F6 driver/fairway combo to the F8 Tour Length and a matching fairway a few months ago and then pulled the trigger on the matching F8 hybrid just recently. I'm SO glad I did, cause I want nothing to do with the F9. Even with the more muted color scheme, there are so many bulges and flares that I'd feel like I was swinging a kid's toy. That fairway looks like it might explode if you make bad contact. The hybrid looks OK, but it's basically the same as the current F8 anyway. The irons are weird and boxy from behind, and that little carbon fiber strip looks like something a 17-year-old would put on his 98' Camry (because racecar - lol). They look a little better at address, but you still know what's there, so the damage is done. The F8 was a big winner in performance AND looks IMHO, so I'm gonna be happy with those for quite some time to come.

Just my opinion.

In all fairness, when the G30 was released everyone lost their minds about turbulators being ugly, then G it was dragonfly, now g400 Max is the best driver ever!!!

The looks are different, people can adapt to looks, they cannot adapt to subpar performance.
