Round #2:

 

Well a little more putts this round but I still love the feel and speed control! If you are looking for a blade putter or a blade person, this is the putter for you!

 

How can you say that with a straight face?! That thing is huge and hideous. Nowhere near what a blade user would want.

 

I thought the same thing. To me, as an Anser guy, when I looked at this putter from the top it looked like an overweight Newport, lol...

Here are some comparison pics to my favorite Cameron (notchback) putter. Looked a lot bigger at first but not so bad now. Distance control is great but just having a tough time getting used to the aluminum, springy feel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am bit stuck on this. I cannot find anyone in the Chicago north suburbs with one of these putters.

 

Based off a fitting with my local pro, he said I should track down something with a plumbers neck to help with my toe hang. Based on reading the product marketing, it seem like the slant neck is supposed to be better for toe hang.

 

How do you find the toe hang on this model compared to your other Scotty's did you look at the 01 at all?

A friend got one and would like to make it lighter.

How do you find the toe hang on this model compared to your other Scotty's did you look at the 01 at all?

Weights are interchangeable from other Newport models.

For me, just didn't care for the aluminum face. My buddy has one and loves his but then again, he loved the original Futura putter.

Is anyone able to comment on how forgiving this putter is relative to a true mallet such as a 2ball or spider etc.?

 

I actually like the looks. The outward projecting fangs suit my eye more so than the inward type 7 fangs. I’m weird though, I used an original Nike drone for a long time.

Seems like everyone on tour that tried it has dumped it. Not sure how much weight people want to put in that.

It's a unique putter for sure. I was making everything I was looking at in the store but no way of knowing if it would translate on the course, very strange to look down on.

For anyone interested, the CX-01 has the similar amount of toe hang to the 2018 Newport 2. The head weight is 333g including the 2x10 weights for a 35”, swingweight is E3. This putter is not for everyone, but for some it’s perfect. I like how consistent it is on off center strikes and the feel is amazingly similar to the Newport 2. It’s all about what you like to look at and inspires confidence in your stroke. I think the TM Spider is one of the ugliest putters out there, but it performs well and works for a lot of folks. Just my two cents.
