G400 Max launch

Just wondering if you’ve found the Max 9* launches high/low/ or as expected based on your experience with other driver of similar loft. I’m considering switching from my M3 10.5 to the G400 based on the look and feel, but I haven’t had a chance to test it outside first. Just hoping for a little feedback. Thanks!

I found it launches higher but that also depends on your setup - but slightly higher than my Epic. Played the Epic in 9.5, the G400 Max in 9.

I have a 9* G400 max and it launches higher than the Epic I was playing at 10*. It beat the Epic in every category for me.

My 10.5 launches a little higher than my old XR16 10.5, even when it was set to 12 degrees. I'm not the best person to comment because my launch tends to be low (about -6 degrees with a lob wedge)

You may be the best person to comment if you are typically a low launch player.

Launches higher than my old G. Turned it down -1* (added benefit of decreasing any draw bias) and it is a fairway finder.

All things being equal, higher MOI drivers like PINGs in general and especially the 400 series will launch higher than their lower MOI counterparts due to slightly more forward deflection at impact caused by the more rewards COG catching up when approaching impact. Keep in mind though that launch is FAR more dependent on strike than any inherent quality of the club. Every driver will launch lower if you strike it below the sweet spot and vice versa for above.

I’m usually a lower launch guy, sorry no numbers, so with modern drivers I’ve lofted up to usually 10.5 or so, and even then adding loft when needed at times. Based on the talk of these being high launchers I bought a 9* without hitting outdoors. First shaft hit bullets that I couldn’t elevate and was stunned. The same shaft had been in an m3 440 10.5 and was fine, but in the Max was hot, but too low at any loft combo. Next shaft was better, but I still had to loft up as much as possible to be ideal, but it brought the lefts into play. So I moved it to search for a 10.5 to play neutral or even loft down a smidge.

To me it launched about right for the loft, maybe a tad high. But not silly high to the point of lofting down to counteract.

Same for me. I currently play a 10.5 g30. This past weekend I demoed a 10.5 g400 Max on the course. The launch was a smidge higher with the max, but nothing ridiculous. 92 mph second speed, regular flex.

I currently play the G30 as well. Is the 400 max worth the jump?

Without a doubt. The max is much more forgiving and I found it to be a little longer too. I also liked the sound and feel. I will be buying the demo if the course will sell it to me.

Right, the stock shaft launched high, and the Distanza higher, but the Xtorsion really brought the flight down.

Yes. Have no desire to now use any of my G30s. Also mad I wasted a couple hundred bucks on some new G heads to experiment with. G400 Max is that good.

IMO, it launches slightly higher when hit on the screws. On mis-hits, it flights higher, but that seems to be the beauty of the design, thus the source of the head's forgiveness.
