Accra 110i should fit the bill pretty nicely. And stay around the weight you are looking for.

This. So underrated.

For low/low? I've heard people

Say the rip 115 feels stouter than that, and the hazrdus is more low/low than rip. I think.

If you're use to heavy and stiff steel shafts in your irons it's going to be somewhat of a task to find the perfect lighter hybrid graphite shaft. i I spent the better part of a year searching for the perfect shaft that gave me the stability/balance/control/confidence heavier steel but with the distance of a lighter graphite. More specifically, I wanted to get to the distance number I wanted to with less effort, ie.. I wanted to get to a distance without having to go all out and kill it. Also at the time I had a cobra utility which, as a hollow cast head, felt like $hit with steel.

I've since decided to try a different approach and I have a 790udi 2i en route. I previously avoided these due to the fact of how hot the face is and that it would go too far but then I thought that maybe I could go back to a heavier steel shaft that I'm accustomed to and get the distance I want.

Good thought, 790 is at 19 degrees for 3 iron so that could work for me too.

I think the hazrdus should work, but now I'm wondering if I should just get a 790 head and put the 105 black in there and just crush the ball. Sell my udi. That would probably make it compete with my Fivewood spot then

I think you are right. Matrix Black Tie 105 might be worth a thought. Those were pretty cheap uncut on eBay

Im gonna post a video of some shots with data fter getting it put together! Yall can look at numbers and lmk what you think

I have played this as well. So I have played speeder 9.8x tour spec, matrix black tie hm3 105xx, and currently have the kbs prototype 105x. Of the 3, the speeder was the lowest launch/spin with acceptable feel. Black tie was low/low but felt dead at impact. Kbs is definitely the soft and highest launch and spin but feels very smooth. Not of them are exactly what I was looking for.

The whole point is that he doesn't want to go heavy steel. He is looking for graphite in a lighter weight range.

Update. . .

I installed the shaft, looks great, feels great. But. . . not low flight.

Its standard 2 iron length, but its a 20 degree 3 iron. I didnt cut it down because my iron are +1inch this season and im playing better then ever, so wanted to try it out first.

Im getting about 230 average with it right now, maybe slightly more thats rough estimate based off range markers

So what would you all do to change the flight? cut an inch from the grip end? change loft?

I dont mind if it goes farther, I have to drop a club when i use it anyways so it would just change that choice slightly. I dont want it to go over 250 though, and if i left it the same length but strengthened the loft a lot that might happen.

My advice is to stop trying to get a swing change by changing the club =). That shaft is about as low launching as you can get (for shaft sensitive people). Not trying to be a smart-aleck, but learn to flight it down. Even for highly shaft sensitive people, it's rare to see more than a couple degree change in dynamic loft (and that comes from the person changing their swing, not from the shaft doing anything). You could bend it stronger, but if the flight is significantly higher than you want, you're only going to get large changes you want by learning to decrease your dynamic loft.

I use my 3 iron on two holes at the course I play most. One is on a long par 5, where I typically have ~220 into a small green. I hit a high (>100ft) cut on that one. The other is a short, dog leg left, par 4 where I hit a low (~35ft) draw that scoots around the corner. My dynamic loft is probably 10* different on those two shots. My 'normal' swing with my 3 iron is ~80ft high.

I know its as stiff as im willing to go, but stepping it should make it fly lower/spin less, no? Its at two iron length (standard, not plus 1). Im decent at dynamic loft changes, I tried I swear. But ur cap is better so what the &^%$ do I know

Giving this guy a go..

I was bored and up late due to stealing(allegedly) too much of my girls' Halloween candy last night so I pulled the PX LZ 6.5 and put this guy in the UDI. Didn't have any ferrules to fit a .370 tip that I trimmed to fit the .355 hosel so I had to make due. Will get that cleaned up. Need to extend it 3/4" and get the SW checked. This shaft is 98G raw uncut and I have about 8g of lead tape on the underside of the shaft and 2 sensicore inserts(4g each) stuffed in there so I've upped the weight a bit. It's also tipped 1.5".

This thread is like let's make a deal. It's a mix of a WTB, a WRX Tech thread, and a TollBros DM me so I can sell you a Mitsubishi shaft. We just need the Shaft Shack to throw in now and we'll have it all.

On a serious note I think the OP made the correct decision. If you like the feel of the HZRDUS I've found that there isn't a shaft that is easy to transition to. I think on paper the RIP 105 would be the closest fit but I've had the experience where the feel is two separate worlds.

I personally have found that I like both the PXi 6.5 and the HZRDUS 105 6.5 but my go to shot with this club is a trap draw sort of stinger off the tee so I don't have the OPs concern about playing it in the wind.

Im hitting it a bit lower/better after getting used to it, love it. Gonna def cut it down an inch, very unwieldy feeling, a 2iron/wood length shaft with an iron head, and im sure it will lower the flight

Loft also has a much greater impact on launch than the shaft does so just bump it a degree or two stronger. I play a Callaway X Forged UT 18 degree that is strengthened to 16 degrees. I use it almost exclusively off the tee and the stronger loft is great.

I just reshafted an old callaway big bertha 1 iron with one of the retail Project x blue hybrid shafts coming in at 92g and 2.5 torque. Had a KBS tour in there before.

What a combination! I thought it might play quite stiff as the hybrid in that line are renowned for playing quite stiff to flex and the thru bore nature of the big bertha means you are effectively tipping the shaft a little too.

It feels amazing to me, not in the slightest bit boardy, just a nice linear load of the shaft and a nice low to mid trajectory with low to mid spin. Super accurate too and the nicest thing is it's a $25 shaft now or even less in some places.

So having tried the 790 UDI, GAPR Lo, etc, I'm back to using a 20 year old 1 iron that performs as well for me as anything out at the moment.
