Dynamic Gold CPT - Anyone heard, played with this?

Hello Forum,

Recently became unhappy with my s400 shafts for reasons bemoaned in another thread. That sent me shopping for shafts. I saw an insane deal on these "CPT" shafts and picked up a set. They are "Dynamic Gold x100 Counterpoint Technology" irons, which are allegedly lighter and counter-balanced and originally made for the Japanese market. It was less than $10/shaft from an authorized reseller. I have to put together a set to trade in anyways, so not much lost if they are garbage, but figured I'd try them in my gamer 8 iron.

I can't find anything about these anywhere online. not true temper's site, not an independent review, nothing. Has anyone heard anything about these irons anywhere? The specs look pretty juicy (light weight, x flex) and they are genuine dynamic gold from TT, so they can't be too bad. Just can't find anything.

Anyone heard of these or had any experience with them?

Thanks,

PSG

I am playing CPT X100 shafts in my iron. Yes they are very smooth shafts and higher launching than DG X100 shafts. First thing you will notice is that the butt diameter is thicker than regular DG. They are counter balanced as well so swing weights are difficult to achieve. It is like HZRDUS yellow compared to black. I highly recommend.

TM SLDR 430 9 Speeder TS 7.2 stiff (no tipping, 44.75 inch, upright setting, D4)
TM M1 430 8,5 Kurokage XT 70 X (no tipping, 44.5 inch, -0.5 lower, D4.5)
TM SLDR fairway 15 Speeder TS 8.2 stiff (0.5 tipping, 42.5 inch, +0.5 higher setting, D3)
TM M1 fairway 15 Kurokage XT 80 X (0.5 tipping, 42.5 inch, standard setting, D3)
TM SLDR hybrid 19 Speeder 9.8 stiff (1 inch tipping, 40.25 inch, standard setting, D3)
TM M1 hybrid 19 Kurokage silver tini 90 TX (no tipping, 40.25 inch, -0.5 lower setting, D3)
Mizuno MP-H4 3 iron DG AMT X100 (39.25 inch 1 degree weak, D3.5)
Mizuno MP-69 5-9 (5 iron 1 degree strong, +0.25 length, DG AMT X100 ss 1x, D3.5)

Trying to revive this thread as there is little information on these shafts. I am asking because I hit regular dg x100's with decent success. Really like the feel, but wouldn't mind a touch lighter shaft. How "difficult", would these be to swingweight? Aerotech difficult? Or harder? Would soft stepping reduce the counter-balancing properties of this shaft?

Mine are still off heads in my basement. Would

Love to have someone answer these questions, especially how soft or hard stepping would effect swingweight in a CPT shaft. I'd love to get some information on these.

Anyone ever buy these? Compare to dgx100?

They are lighter and they certainly launch higher. Its a somewhat peculiar feeling shaft. There is more weight in the hands. You can feel it. I question if they should have used the x100 label it feels pretty different than just the "SL" line or whatever. I *loved* them in the wedges and did not like them anywhere else.

Thank you that is great info! Did it play noticeably softer than a normal x?

Gents- The DG CPT is a counter balanced, higher launching shaft that we sold in Japan. It weighs in just a little less than DG (127.1 vs 130.4) and will swing weight about 2.5 points lighter.

Soft stepping will have a very small effect on the counter balancing and will make the tip more active.

Great info! Thank you. I'm thinking of hard stepping to get a lighter swing weight than x100 but maintain the stiffness. Would this be stiffer than the DG XP?

As far as stiffness, with the CPT shaft instead of reinforcing the tip, we reinforced the butt end so it will be a different type of stiffness as opposed to the more tip stiff DG XP. The softer the tip in relation to the butt, generally the higher the ball will fly so DG XP will still fly lower than DG CPT even if you hard step CPT. XP was meant to keep a similar Dynamic Gold flight but in a midweight offering while CPT was intended to be a higher flight.

I saw a set of these pop up at my local golf shop and have been looking everywhere for info on these. This and one other WRX thread are really the only info I've found.

Crazy how little info there is out there.

Dispersion of the X100 with a higher flight!

Who wouldn't jump all over these?!

Gonna go give them a shot today.

I picked up a set of these. I just need to figure out which heads to put them in. I’ll provide a review eventually.
