Specific question re G400 Max

Hi

I have been fiddling around with shafts in the g400 max 10.5*

I bought it with the regular altus shaft however I am getting great results with a Ping Tour 75 Stiff shaft that I took out of my stretch 3 wood.

In practice I haven't noticed and problems with the apparent change in swing weight however I would like to put things back to normal to see how things feel, any difference etc.

How much weight would I need to add to return the above combo to "normal" swing weight and where would you suggest.

Im assuming lead tape back and low ?

It really depends on a number of things. Any idea how much longer the driver shaft is vs the stretch shaft? Just compare them If they are on hand.

It's very likely the new head/shaft combo has a lighter swingweight now BUT it's not crazy light...and working well.

If you are hitting it straight and happy with the results, why on earth change it to get to a number that may produce different results ? If it feels good maybe the swingweight is fine due to that head being a bit more heavy than other heads currently out

Ta for the replies. I appreciate the common sense answers, but we all like messing around dont we, and easy to put back.

The difference in length is 43 inches versus 45 3/4 - significant...?

Very. We're talking around 16.5 swing weight points which involves adding 33g of weight to the head. That is enough to massively change the feel as well as the shaft performance. If you are hitting it very well now then odds are this will feel extremely uncomfortable, i'd proceed with caution.

My fitter once told me, tongue in cheek sort of, to never worry about checking swingweight or it’ll become an obsession. If it feels good and the results are good, just go with it. I get where he’s coming from in “checking itâ€. NOW bear in mind I’m a 12 handicap so I just go with what feels right to me.
