Any of you guys using a TP Mills Putter?

made out of tuscaloosa alabama. use to make putters with multiple OEMs. takes a little while to make the putters but can customise it which ever way you want

Thanks, I have been trying to do some research on them. The OEM putters seem pretty light, and then teh customs very heavy. Just wondering if anyone has been gaming a custom. Seems like a better route for me as I am not looking for a dalehead or anser style putter.

I've had 4 or 5 Softails. My fave shape of all time. I've been looking on ebay to see if another in Stainless with flange sight-line appears......... :-)

The quality, craftsmanship and legend behind the brand is unquestionable.

I stupidly sold my first, a couple were for collection purposes only: and the last i had Custom Made. I got David to go a little too heavy on the milling on the custom - making it feel / sound too soft for my liking [NOT his fault at all !!!] and promptly sold that too.

To be fair; whilst admitting the putters are fantastic and loving absolutely everything about them - i found the whole custom process too lengthy and draw-out to contemplate getting another. right now. Which in an ideal World is what i'd have done a while ago. Being in the UK doesn't help that timescale of course....

IF you're thinking of getting a Custom done - now (Winter) is the time !!! And if you have more patience than me - you will NOT regret it i promise.

David's putters are hidden gems, way better than most and most of his work are his designs, not remakes of others.

I am looking at going with one of the customs next year. I dont think Ill be too worried about how long it takes if the putter looks like the one you posted! What a beauty!!!

Have you tried the old professional series line? Those heads were around 350g, which to me are on the heavier side. What head weight are you looking for?

I currently am using a Circa 62 no 2 at 330 grams. I have to use a really light weight grip on it due to the light head weight. I am looking for 340 grams, or maybe even 350. I feel like anything heavier than that would be a little much for me. Im a pingman grip user and it might make the swing weight something crazy! I havent tried the professional series line. Ill look into it!

Sweet Jesus. That has got to be one of the greatest putters I have seen in my life. Did you go the custom route with that? How was the experience? The cavity looks different on yours than the ones I have been seeing. Was this custom as well? Im trying to decide between the 304 ss and carbon steel. I am currently using a black ox carbon circa 62 and love the feel. Never used anything in 304 stainless though!

David is his father make a putter. I own Spalding TPM 3 and TPM 4. They are great putters. I enjoyed.

Those are the first ones I saw. Off topic... How is your putter making coming?

I'm not experienced craftmaster putter. I tried my first time on custom putter stainless steel bar. I make my custom putter by myself handmake.

I've some equipment...stand drilling, files and metal saw cut. Very risky.

I make it (lol). Stainless steel is a very tough metal!!

I agree with Larry that David's putters are gems - and second to none. I have a few Custom Mades in rotation and they are all a joy to putt with - and get the ball in the hole. I am in Sydney and even so, the custom process was no drag. David is a GREAT guy to deal with and the wait was not too bad at all - there is a wait for anything custom made.

get David to make you up a Carbon Soft Tail or a Ming in your desired specs and finish and I guarantee you will be one happy customer. :-)

I play a TP Mills Anvil and really like it, this putter has excellent soft feel and looks great at address. I like Scotty’s but after playing the Mills I would not go back.

I'm basically using a Scotty Softtail clone. The Circa 62 no 2. I like the looks of the original MUCH better! I do like the idea of getting a 340 gram head too!

I LOVE my Sycamore with GSS insert, the only one I've ever seen and I believe the only one that didn't get shipped to Korea.

I had my Softtail custom made this last winter with a pencil shaft. It is easily the softest putter I have ever hit.

My experience with ordering from David was mixed. My first order didn't get completed as I had requested, so he made me the Softtail to make up for it and only asked me to pay the shipping for the 2nd putter. I ended up selling the first one and kept the Softtail.

I need to owned something custom from Mills.

I have a Spaulding TPM 1 and have hit a 12 which may have been the softest carbon Putter I have hit aside from a Mizuno Mills I had at one point.

I had David make me a putter a few years back. What he delivered was a work fo art. While my stroke didn't end up getting along with it, I have nothing but good things to say about working with him. It isn't as smooth as larger shops are but you are dealing with the man himself. Price is certainly subjective but I thought it was reasonable for what I got.

I've owned a couple of Soft Tails - beautiful putters.

I now have a Huey, which is a medium sized mallet - beautiful putter with a flow neck and 1/4 offset, 360g copper look and GSS. Stunning. Head feel is a bit heavy so I'm putting in some counterbalancing for a lighter swingweight - it's more of a balance issue - too heavy and you force tempo, too light in the head and it's too fast.

If you want to go old tech, this is the way to go.

Feel wise , I prefer the feel of the Heritage and SoftTail best, very soft and solid. Nellie and Fleetwood feel good but more of a muted feel because of thinner face.

I don't disagree with this.

I think these 4 hit the sweet spot of feeling like distinctly mills designs (unlike maybe a trad, trad II, sycamore, ming, etc.) while still being a modern putter (unlike maybe a #1 or a #12). If you were looking for a first one to experience the mills brand that's where I would start. That being said, all the putters I mentioned are really nice and non of them are a "carbon copy" of another manufacturer.

I also think the Huey looks really nice in pictures but I've never had one in hand.

Mills is one of the only putter guys in the business that will do a "hand bent plumber neck." and all of their other round flow necks are great looking too. Interesting the name came from calling it a 'Plumber's nightmare" with the 1/4" off set and narrowing yet it is common to call it Plumber's Neck. Tho think Karsten Solheim coined that term.
