2018 Q-Star Tour versus Titleist AVX

I haven't played both, but the balls seem to be designed to do different things. The QST is designed to spin less off the driver and irons, but retain as much wedge and green side spin as possible. The AVX is the same in this regard. However the QST is designed to launch high though. The AVX launches super low and every review I've seen shows it to have a lower peak height than any other ball.

The AVX seems to be designed for a very specific player (one I've not met too many of). The kind of player who both spins the ball too much and launches the ball too high when moving to lower spinning balls.

I really liked the old QST and it was my go-to ball for at least a year or so. I recently made the switch to the AVX for the exact reason stated above - the AVX most definitely launches lower, and that seems to have me losing fewer drives right with my natural high, left-to-right ball flight. The original QST is still my favorite ball ever off the putter though. I'm anxious to try the new version.

I have played both balls. Played the Q Star Tour for a couple years and really liked it. Tried to like the AVX this spring. Played it for a couple months. Just launched to low for me. I have had better results with the Pro V1X. That being said I play the Callaway Chrome Soft. Just plays better and feels better for me.

well i played the 2018 QST with the AVX yesterday. QST is real soft , both good balls to the green. But, thats where the AVX shined for me...the QST was too soft off the putter for me, couldnt gage my putts right, the AVX is just a great feel off the putter. I love the feel of the AVX all around, and i am going to stay with it..just a great ball for me..

AVX is considerably longer for me

On equally hit drives the AVX is around 15 yards longer for me also. I've been playing a lot with these two balls the last few weeks here in Utah with cold weather.

Straight up, I rather play the AVX. But when considering the price to performance ratio, I'll play the 2018 QST. Only $20/dz with the performance packs is hard to beat. AVX isn't that much better to be over twice the price.

2018 QST2 is an all around performer. So much better than the 1st QST. Does everything extremely well and is was long for me. Not as long as the XV but then again, the XV is better for my swing speed.

For those who like a softer ball, QST2 is the ball you should try.

Cobra F7+ - Stiff
Callaway V-Series 3 & 5 wood with Aldila Rouge Silver
Srixon 585 5-AW - Modus 105 Stiff
Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth 53 & 58 Degree
EVNROLL ER5
Srixon XV - Yellow

I've tried the QST but didn't like it very much. I gave the rest to a friend. I hit some strange knuckle balls with the driver and didn't like the feel. I like the AVX much better. I'm still a big fan of the Bridgestone RX.

Was having same struggle.....The BRX seems to be a mesh of the QST and AVX....might have found my new ball!

+1 Played the QST2 ball Saturday and loved it. Also, went for the trial pack in white at 10 dollars, it was a steal. I normally prefer a yellow ball. But, was kind of liking the bright white. It's a great ball and looks good, too. Haven't tried the AVX. But, likely I won't. The price is too high.

Played the QST and liked it very much. However I had 2 balls in a my first dozen that developed a seam that was very noticeable. Srixon replaced with a new sleeve but I switched to Bridgestone RXS for more spin around the greens.

Callaway Rogue
Callaway Mavrik 3w
Callaway Epic hybrid
Callaway Rogue 5 wood
Mizuno MPH 5-PW
Vokey 50,56
Scotty Cameron Red X2

Bridgestone RXS

QST is a great ball for the price point, but entirely too much release around the greens for me to game unless the course is drenched. Again, ball choice is a very personal decision as everyone’s “feels” are different.
