Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized

Just tried in store. I'm coming from Bushnell Jolt and prior, but the combination of size, color, weight, red display numbers with incredibly fast information was enough for me, then the motion stabilization on top of that with (apparently) a green display lock on feature. Gotta go buy it now...painfully expensive, but right now I'm in a philosophical phase about money...

This new model looks to me like the slope version of my original Coolshot 80VR which I dearly love. I would never consider using a non-stabilized rangefinder again. The updated model has some sort of fancy way of setting the slope adjustment on or off but otherwise probably works the same.

Well it's not just a single button, but it isn't difficult, and pretty immaterial to me as I don't like using a slope function - I'd rather learn how to make those adjustments on my own as the rules allow.

 

Bought it today, used it for a round, and it is just killer. The speed with which it reads, the bright red display, the size and weight, just perfect.

Yeah, I briefly owned a slope version of the Bushnell Tour V2 and found slope offered virtually no benefit to me, even if it were legal. So my 80VR is the no-slope model.

Just a follow up. Still, by a large margin, best rangefinder I've ever had. Not perfect - occasionally takes a little time to distinguish the flag from very busy backgrounds, but it always does and does so much faster than any other I've had. Price the only negative I would have.

I went from a Leupold to the Coolshot Pro Stabilized and haven’t looked back. To be fair, Leupold optics are much bettter, but most of the courses I play, including my home course, don’t have prisms sensors so the prism lock is pretty useless.

Is the Monarch 3000 model the same thing? Seems like it but I am not sure if ID (slope function) formula would be same for a golf shot and a gun shot.

Does this range finder have little rattling sound when unit is off? Like when stabilization is off.?

Pretty much yes. I purchased the Monarch 3000 when they were on sale last month and it has worked perfectly. Hit a flag on the driving range at 240 yards with no issues. You can also turn off the slope functionality as well.

I play 100% with polarized sunglasses and have had no issues.
