JPX Forged 919 and 919 Tour-Long Term Review??

russian7

Recommended Posts

Now that I have returned my I500's I need some new players irons for a back up set.

Looking at the JPX 919 forged possibly, anyone have long term reviews on the forged or tour I mean overall distance, consistency, workability, feel and all of that after playing for a few months?

How much less forgiving are the 919 tours?

Any other recommendations for players irons with some forgiveness but thinner toplines?

Currently playing Forged Tec Blacks and they are the best I've hit in awhile but need another set to try because it's golf wrx hahahah!

Let me know thank you!

Going from the i500’s to the 919T would be quite the jump. They are more forgiving than the 900T though. I have no long term review as I just ordered them yesterday (3-pw kbs 120). However a friend of mine has the 919 forged (he thoroughly tested against the 900F) and he loves them. Says they are a huge improvement on the 900 that was low launching and not that good looking. The forged are almost a full club longer than the tour because of loft and design.

ordered the 919T right away, lovey iron that has everything, forgiveness would be more in between the 900F ad 900T, very playable, great feel look awesome. I even have them modern lofted, get same distances as 900F set.

Great irons.

How much stronger are the lofts that you ordered?

Did you have to specify the difference or does Mizuno have an option akin to Ping where you simply choose the "modern loft" option at time of order?

I didn't say "modern lofts", just provided lofts that matched my MP18 combo set. A few are 2* strong, 9-P are 1* strong.

Have you seen any negative affects on turf interaction by going with the stronger lofts? I know they increase the sole width on the 919 T to improve turf interaction.

I only hit the 919T into nets, and was swinging really well so it was hard to tell the forgivenes, but they seemed more forgiving than the 900T. Is that what you’re saying you’ve experienced? The 919T is the best looking iron I’ve ever seen.

Yes. I owned the 900T, find the 919T less demanding.

I agree on the looks.....

I've only got about 3 rounds with the 919 Forged and a lot of range time, and I picked up at least one club's distance and have found them consistent. Bad weather for the last 2 months in NTex.

Will anybody chime in with an actual long term review of 919 forged?

They've only been released for about 6 weeks...

But here is my long term review - if you're a low to midcapper and like the look, buy them.

Have they really? For some reason I thought they’ve been out longer... appreciate your thoughts.

I haven’t hit the 919F, but I have hit my buddies 900F. He has them with PX LZ 6.0. I like the feel of the shaft, but they launch and fly really low. They do the same for him. The LZ is supposed to be a mid launch shaft, so I’m not sure if it’s the shaft or the head, but I wasn’t a fan. And based on looks, I think the 919F look way better.

Just finished quick round with the 919f. My God they feel good in the mid and short irons! The 4 and 5 iron not as much but still not bad. They are nice sticks for sure but not sure they will stay in the bag. The blade length is just a little long for me and I'm not sure I can get used to it. They are very forgiving on thin and toe shots. Also they do launch better than the 900f. I noticed the same thing as the above post with the low launch of the 900f. Bottom line is they are fantastic irons with sensational feel and very good forgiveness. But I'm a ho so there may be a set of absolute mint heads for sale here very soon.

I finally got to extensively demo them and order mine yesterday.

Both are pretty amazing, I didn't like the thicker topline and longer blade look of the 8-PW in the 919 forged.

I ordered 4-7 919 forged, and 8-PW tour. The tour grind and thinner topline I really liked for the short irons, distance was the same with both if you had the same lofts.

I can't wait!

That’s my expected combo set (minus the 4i). Still have to get a fitting over the Winter.

I’ll even go as far as to test a Hot Metal 5i. Just for kicks.

This is the main reason I wasn't blown away by the forged. Too long a blade length. Nice clubs though that really perform. I ordered 6-P in the Tour and kept my 5 iron Fli-Hi. The Fli-His are $$.
