Soft forged wedges to go with mizuno JPX 900 tours?

Gorgeous bag.

When struck in the middle, I found SM7's and RTX to feel pretty soft. My old MD2's were also pretty soft but spin wasn't quite as good. Maybe it's placebo but I feel like a forged wedge just doesn't spin as much over time as castings.

Opposite end: MD4's feel pretty firm/clicky so if you want soft I'd steer clear.

I hit the T7's. Maybe it was just a bad ball striking day but they didn't feel particularly soft. Just average.

The T7’s aren’t available for order anymore anyway, but the S18’s are as soft as anything out there. Unfortunately, there are so few options for forged wedges these days u less you go JDM

Somebody within industry would have to say for sure but I'd guess it's because you use your wedges the most out of the "bad" lies that would tend to cause the most wear and tear to a club. The bottom of my MD2's were trashed after just one season. Cuts, dings, & knicks alllll over the club. On the other hand my Cobra Trusty's look totally fine except for the black paint/coating has worn off the sole to expose the bare metal under.

Used to play T7 until I got a set of S18 cheap on BST. I was surprised how good they are, very underrated wedges. Feel is softer, spins the same and very forgiving. My short game sucks for the most part but it actually got better, specially from the bunker.

I play the MP-T5s with all three of my Mizzy sets and have no problem with them. Can play any shot from any lie with no issues. I'm sure the newer models are just as good.

I would suggest that you find a Wedge that fits your game and turf conditions you expect to play. I have been a huge Wedge Ho the last 2 years or so and made a few mistakes like

buying the wrong bounce , Loft and grind . Last Christmas I bought Custom Raw Tour Fourteen RM-22 Wedges and the loft options don't work for me at all so I gave up and sold them .

Vokey wedges are solid but feel a bit dead compared to the Scratch Forged wedges I have played for 3 seasons so they made it back in the bag. I also tried the Mizuno T7 and found them 'Clicky"

compared to non Boron forged wedges. I prefer a High Bounce Gap- Sand Wedge and a Low Bounce Lob wedge.

I can't see if you like the 900 Tours that you'd like the SM7, which I played. A bit too bulky looking and less versatile than I like. Try the Ping Glide Forged if the grinds fit, or Miura - I like the K Grind, but they have a new milled wedge.

So there is a 16-page thread on another popular golf forum about a brand I wasn't really familiar with, New Level, and their M-Type wedges. They are forged and at least based on that thread, guys are loving them. Might check them out and if you can't find the thread I'm talking about, send me a PM and I can fill you in.

The heel to toe shape is a bit unusual - more squared/less contour

1020 Carbon Steel - soft - lots of shaft options.

High bounce numbers but narrower sole.
