P730 and 900 tour

Recommended Posts

wanted newish clubs, pick up a set of each of these. my favorite cavity irons and blades out right now, though forged black by cobra are pretty sweet.

Gonna pull x100s from mp5 and put in 730 heads, and sell the mp5s heads.

jpx900 tours have x100 with the tour version. so same shafts, though jpx900 under tighter tolerances.

Just wondering how people like them, has anyone compared using the same shafts in both sets?

Any spin/distance numbers?

I will post a comparison video once built next week.

ill take opinions on these clubs in general

I'm looking forward to this. I suspect the 730's will soon a little more

my suspicion too, but ive heard a lot about how unforgiving the 900's are, so im hoping they play like blades.

im just curious in general, since brooks started doing so well. Jason switching from p730s to p750s just made me even more curious

Literally came from a set of 900s to 730s. Same difficulty to hit lol if you dont hit the middle you will struggle with both. Only thing that would make the 730s better is the finish of the 900s.

AMT x100 shafts in both. 730s are much easier to flight and I like the sole and toe shape more than the 900s.

Both are fantastic irons, just comes down to preference

doesnt it always, lol

Or should anyways, sometimes I think some care more about what others think of their choices than they do.....most of threads seem to paint this picture anyways

I'm not making a choice here.... just asking for opinions on two sets of clubs I'm about to be playing, just for fun. Thought it would be cool to compare opinions to my experiences once they come in.

I'll probably be playing these two sets on and off for the next couple years if I like them both.

I played 900T for a week and the P730 for 2 months. Scientific proof that the P730 is better.

Seriously, though, the 730 is no harder to hit, despite its ridiculously low MPF rating. Also the best looking club in the last decade.

Any chance you know ur spin/distance numbers for both?

And absolutely the best looking. It might be my favorite looking club 4 iron- pw of all time.

I was close to purchasing the 730s, and they are more difficult to hit than the 900T.

Ive hit them both too I don't think 730 is more difficult, but thin/fat shots turned out worse for me. I try to limit that anyways lol

I can’t speak for anyone else but during my fitting I was just over 7k with my 7 so I bent them a degree strong. After some drastic swing changes it’s much more manageable but I’ll have to grab some numbers soon

I had totally different shafts in them (Modus 120X in the 900 and Steelfiber i95S in the 730), so not apples to apples, unfortunately.

I am waiting for epoxy on 730 7 iron to cure.

But the 900tours are epic, Im not sure I really need to keep another set, cause it will be hard to leave the mizunos at home.

the 900's are easily the favorite irons I have played, and they be the best looking as well.

Im sure the 730s will feel great, but the flat finish on the tours is so great looking in person. And they feel amazing, and forgiving. ill post a video this week anyways.

I may have to find some 919t's to try out, the idea of a colorless 900t may be too much temptation in the end.

The 730s are a bit smaller, which I like. but marginally. chrome looks great but I'm now spoiled with that flat finish.

Now if you gave me a p730 with that finish... wow

As someone who moved from 900 tour to the P730s, I didn't notice a huge difference in club head performance, but the feel of the 730's was just a bit better through the bag. Shaft for me is Modus 120 Tour S.

Also the smaller profile on the 730s was a big factor for me

hm I guess I'm starting a thread on how to make the 730 get that satin finish

Honestly some satin or dark finish 730s would be my end game iron. (dark finish like on my MP33s - http://imgur.com/a/oHmEY)

You could always get them sand blasted?

not sand, but bead might get me there. I might have to do it man they look stupid good with chrome, and still can't be bothered with looking away from the 900's.

if anyone has input on getting p730s to look the 900/919 tours without increased maintenance, lmk.
