Kyoei proto

Hey all,

 

Just wondering if anyone has any feedback/insight regarding the Kyoei products coming out right now. I know they used to do forgings for other OEMs and had their own line (Vega I think) but I'm more interested in their own stuff they're making now. The products look amazing and I hear that their forgings are second to none.

They have new MB and CB coming out..the KK....black and chrome

 

Only thing that's gonna matter is if you like the traits of the club....look, profile, sole, specs that kinda thing......the forging is top notch and if you like design and specs am sure you wont be disappointed......

 

Look in JDM section for Kyoei....have better threads over there

If you want soft, a raw ( black finish) Kyoei forging is the softest .. from the middle it sounds like hitting a marshmallow with a pillow.. I personally love their utilitarian ,, grain look , raw finish ...

The KK black is absolutely my favorite aesthetically. Very unique that you can see the milling lines in the cavity of the CB. I would be all over them if they were offered in a combo set.

I know that there are very strong opinions about Tourspec Golf on GolfWrx, but I can say personally they were fantastic. I probably e-mailed Chris with Tourspec over 20 times asking about different finishes, shafts, building the clubs, etc. and he replied very promptly and was a lot of help. I know at the time I bought mine if you bought the shafts and grips from them they were also doing the build at no additional charge.

On their Instagram page they claim that they are currently in the process of obtaining U.S. retailer accounts so maybe their clubs will be easier to obtain in the near future. For now Tour Spec Golf is about the only place I see. I’ve been tempted to order one of their new wedges that will be released in December.

Sexy looking irons! How do these compare to the Vega's? I may have to order a set of these!

Read up or look for threads on the older KZG stuff. They used to get their heads forged at Kyoei

Vega gets their heads from Kyoei. KZG used to be a kyoei forge. Now they are being manufactured somewhere else in the far east.

Kyoei will feel more like Mizuno than Miura. Also, Kyoei do their own plating, so every details are done in house.

So if I like the Vegas, I will probably like the Kyoeis? Club Champion has Vega but they do not have Kyoei. The KK cbs look awesome! These may be “the ones”!

Avoid TSG and Chris.

 

I’ve had nothing but headaches dealing with them. Tons of attitude and if you send an email, don’t expect an answer anytime soon or at all and if you push them in the slightest, you get a whole speech about being busy or your email must have gone into my spam folder etc.

 

Seriously painful to do business with.

I also recall TSG banning a bunch of us some years ago from the TSG forum.

 

A number of us had become friendly over the years with buying/selling clubs and just from some great interactions over the years so we emailed each other or in some cases called each other. It was such a small tight knit group, but then almost out of nowhere, we were banned for life! No warnings, no explanation and it was an across the board ban, meaning it was a few people.

 

And what was our great sin? On some occasions, we had a different point of view than TSG in the performance of a certain club that they were promoting. There were no harsh words, just honest opinions from other members on the forum, but I guess they were not interested in what I and other thought was the intent of a discussion forum.

 

Funny thing is, one of the guys who was great to deal with started his own JDM board. I never thought it would happen, but kudos to him because it’s still up and running and very active even years laters!

I remember a bit about that but never dug too deep for the details. In one way or another drama seems to go hand in hand with every forum.
