Screwed by eBay member...VENTING

The quality of sellers and product descriptions have went to crap in the recent years. I’ve been a member since 2002 and since Feb 25th of this year I’ve purchased 49 items and had to file 10 requests for returns due to items not as described. Luckily I’ve won every one of them and eBay does a decent job at protecting the buyer. But, I’m becoming more and more discouraged with eBays service.

Are u buying clubs without looking at the pictures? When im selling a club on ebay i try to desribe it to the best of my ability, but i usually let the pics speak for the condition of the club. 49 club purchases in 16 years and you have requested to return 10 of the 49 clubs. I am at a loss for words???

A good seller will always undersell the item when describing imo.

That's a really high return percentage. What were the issues not described?

You might want to re-read what was actually posted. 49 purchases since February 25th 2018. So closer to 9 months time not 16 years.

Given he has a couple of similar Feedbacks to yours I'd have to agree with your take on it.

If eBay doesn't suspend the Seller they are not doing their job. 3 times this guy has done this !!

IF Ebay suspends the seller they will be losing money. Ain't going to happen

This is the way I view it as well. eBay would rather sweep an issue with a high volume, low ethics seller under the rug because they don't want to lose the revenue. Since eBay can just stand back and act like they are just the middleman, there's plausible deniability.

Their are some shady people on eBay and I pretty much refuse to buy clubs on there. I sell head covers on eBay and in the last few days I have people try to cancel their order. It goes both ways sometimes. Yes, eBay is about the money, and anyone says they would do it differently is probably a philosopher.

Not all of them were clubs.....golf balls, golf polo shirts, etc. Of course I look at the pictures, that’s a silly question. I even “blow” them up on my screen to look at every detail. Pictures are not always telling of condition (quality of pictures, angle, etc) and I also rely on sellers description. When a seller says an item is “mint” or new but the shaft has multiple scratches or the club has dents on face that were not shown in pictures it’s frustrating. I always send message asking about condition (dents, scratches, stains, tears, discoloration, etc depending on item sold) before bidding just incase seller falsifies their ad and I have proof. When I sell, I take pictures and describe every imperfection, that’s the right thing to do. Unfortunately, not all sellers do as you and I.

So far I’ve never had a problem with seller after I pointed out the discrepancy and request return. They know they were misleading in their ad and probably hoping buyer would overlook. Integrity is important to me and I want what was described and I paid for.

Sorry this happened to you and we are not surprised these kind of things happen. Don't believe people would automatically become a gentleman when they hold a golf club in their hands.

As someone pointed out that you did not suffer financial loss. It is inconvenient to have to find the rest of the set since you went ahead to purchase the 3-6.

A lesson learned when dealing with multiple sources, don;t count on the smooth transaction until it's done. Same as everything else in life.

A very valuable lesson for you, if you learned anything from this, you could have avoided much worse events later on in life.

Not sure what i was looking at??? I aologize for not reading it correctly. 20% return rate is pretty staggering!!!

I will def pay better attention to my ebay purchases from now on. I have heard Callaway Pre owned is kind of the same way these days. They use to be spot on!
