Balls.

Every few weeks I'll purge my bag and clean out/sort the balls.

Once this past summer, in the middle of this endeavor, my wife called me for some inane "lift this" chore.

Next day, I tossed the bag in the car.

Got to the tee, not a ball in sight.

About a month ago or so I went out after work to get in 9 holes. I'd switched bags and realized when I got to the first tee that I'd missed grabbing my Ziploc bag full of tees, etc. I went back into the pro shop to get some tees and the guy working the counter asks "One for $0.75, or 3 for $2.00?". I'm thinking "Holy cow, $0.75 for one tee?". Then I see him turn around holding little bags of about 20 tees each. "I'll take one bag."

Last fall was on the practice area and I usually carry my wedges to the short game area. I will plop them down all over the place while I hit different shots. It was starting to get dark and I saw someone I know. So I walked away from the short game area and started talking to him. While talking to him I got a phone call and took the call. While talking I loaded my bag into my car and finished the convo. Drove home and the next morning went to play. First hole I went to grab my 50 degree wedge... not there... crap... 56 not there.... 62 not there....... PW not there... all left on the short game area. Called the course and they went to look... someone already walked off with them.

Forgot my clubs just once. Thankfully the course was only 10 min away..

Took them out of the back of the car so we could take the dogs to the park the night before and forgot to put them back in. I make it a point to always put the clubs back in immediately when we get home.

I also hate when I forget my rain gear. I have everything, but sometimes don't put it in the bag. So I got a bigger bag and just leave it in there

A little different “left behind” story. Finished playing one afternoon. Parked the cart back in the shed and went home. Later decided I wanted to do soemthing with my bag and went out to the car to bring it in. Pop the trunk, no clubs. Jumped in the car and quickly went back to the course (fortunately, it’s not far away). There were on the back of my cart. For some reason I just pulled in, parked, and left. Without putting them back in my car

I forgot to bring my golf shoes once to a morning round on a dew-soaked course. I usually put everything in the car trunk the night before, but had left the shoes out to dry in the garage after cleaning them the night before and forgot that I had done that. Had to play in the old running shoes I was wearing, my feet were completely soaked halfway down the first fairway.

Shoes, a couple of times while rushing to get out of the house. Onetime I just turned around and the second time with other guys for a tee time and there was the annual sale at the proshop, so, a new pair of BOA laced shoes.

Putter, wedge, forgot to replace them to the bag after practice in the family room. Seldom had this happen in recent years. Wife said she doesn't like to hear the clicking while she watched television.

Except for the golf shoes, nothing really is detrimental, No putter ? I putt with a wedge. No wedge ? I know how to hit short irons for different distance. Escaping the fluffy sand bunker might be more difficult, but we don;t have fluffy sand around here.

Brought the clubs home to either clean them off or dry them after a round in the rain.

Forgot I had done that until I was halfway to the course for my Men's league tee time. Raced home and then to the course just in time to tee off.

my sanity, usually

You really don't need this to play golf. In fact, the less you start the round with, the less you have to lose along the way.

Luckily I am not the type to typically get frustrated with golf, instead simply enjoying the time outside on a beautiful course.

I've said it before in the "You Know You're in for a Long Day" thread.

Woke up late one day when we are first off. Start rushing around to get to the course on time because we're a 5-some so I know they aren't waiting on me if I'm late. Luckily I have a locker at the course, so know my clubs/shoes are there waiting on me. Last minute check as I rush out the door: Wallet - Check; Keys - Check; Phone - Check. OK, that's everything I could possibly need.

Now normally, I'll be up early and have some caffeine and a smoke or 2, and that gets the plumbing working before jumping in the shower. This day there was no time for caffeine or shower, just get in the car, get to the club and get your "Crap" out of the locker and go.

Shortly after hitting my second shot into #5 (a par 5 that is about as far away from the clubhouse as you can get), I felt something break loose in my tummy, and suddenly remembered what I had forgotten, Oh Sh1t!.

This was early in the Spring, so no porta-potties had been put out yet, so it became a question of 1. If I could make it to the house at the turn, or 2. Just kick my cart-mate off and tell him he's carrying the last 2 and make a mad dash for the house. I chose option 1, as things in my tummy seemed to subside for a while after that first tell-tale moment. (Of course I gave everyone ANY putts on 5, 6, and 7 that were even reasonably close just to speed things along). Then of course we get to 8 tee and there is a group waiting, a group in the fairway, and a group on the green. I quickly realized this was turning into a Code-BROWN, and no where to go. Since we were waiting anyway, the only option was to tell my cart-mate to get out and get a yardage, find some shrubbery, and sacrifice a golf towel.

I've never woken up late since :)!

Having just returned from golfing in Florida, I was playing a doubles tie a few days after getting home. It's overcast, cold but nothing out the ordinary for the time of year.

On the 6th tee the heavens opened and what felt like all the water in the world started falling out the sky. Into my bag I go only to discover a spare pair of shorts, sun cream and one of those cool/temperature regulating towels.

My waterproofs and hat had to be the only items I didn't transfer back into my main bag before leaving for the course.

When it got to the point it looked as though I'd been swimming fully clothed our opponents mercifully agreed to abandon the tie and reconvene a few days later when the weather was better and I was fully prepared. The coldest and wettest I've ever been. Ouch.

Way too OCD to leave anything behind. Much more likely to be late for a tee time because I had to quadruple check that I had everything, and then quadruple check again.

Shoes countless times; not really ever an issue now since I now play in vans

I have forgotten certain clubs, putters, left irons around the house, wedges in my practice bag

I have forgotten my entire bag, though I honestly could piece together a set out out of my trunk at times if I didn't have time to go get my clubs.

I forgot shoes once and showed up to first tee in flip flops. Had to buy new shoes! Forgot putter from practice putting at my house. Worse was leaving 6 iron on range and 3 of our par threes are my 6 iron number depending on wind
