Who else is a big fan of Bryson dechambeau?

I'm on the BD train. I really like what he's selling. We don't need more Chris Kirk's or Cody Gribbles or Tom Hoge's.

I'm not.

Don't be a curmudgeon (wait, is this mike davis?)...he's a sharp kid. And he can play...regardless of how funky his swing looks.

A guy who wants to keep a protractor in his pocket to measure slope on a green book is definitely setting a new edge. I like it.

You asked......I for one can’t stand the dude. He will fade, throwing tantrums and blaming the gods of science for not divulging their secrets to him.

But hey, the world needs all kinds, hence my existence.

He seems like a complete phony to me.

Case in point the Ryder Cup. Refusing to give Noren a two footer, then hamming up it with the crowd on the next tee like he's funny and the whole match is a joke. Two seconds later he's in his typical whining/disbelief after his shot doesn't work out.

He also can take ages to decide what to do, which is never fun to watch.

I don’t hate him but I agree. He seems like an attention ho and I don’t think he’s as smart as the Einstein/mad scientist bit he tries to portray. He’s a good golfer that just pays with different clubs.

Fan.

He's showing the world that that "other" golf swing works, and that it holds up under pressure. He's also showing that his chosen clubs compliment that swing without comprimising feel or consistancy.

4 wins in 2018...BDC is the real deal, and quite possibly the Dick Fosbury of golf.

Well put.

He's just going his thing. It's the media that portrays him as a mad scientist. Same way they try to portray Brooks as some linebacker type.

I followed Bryson for a few holes at the BMW. He was the only player to make any sort of eye contact with the gallery and smile at people and say "hi" and truly seemed to be enjoying himself playing golf for millions of dollars. He was polite to the volunteers, also. Unlike some other players I saw.

I liked him a lot more when he was an amateur playing in the Masters. I'm tired of the "mad scientist" persona and the annoying way the announcers and analysts fuel it when he's on the screen. I think he has some innovative ideas, so did Ben Hogan, but Hogan let his golf game speak for itself. As a marketing guy, I appreciate his attempt to separate himself from the field but it's become over saturated and now is more annoying than helpful. I hope as he continues to win that he distances himself from the "mad scientist" shtick and maybe redirects that energy towards some golf books or videos for those who want to adopt the single plane swing without all the other mumbo jumbo.

He has an interesting personality. All of the numbers and scientific theories aren't personally for me. What I do appreciate about him, other than he knows how to win, is how simplistic he's trying to keep things. I'm not talking about all the numbers he applies to golf, especially on the green, but with his swing. Keeping things one length and on one plane are all in the direction of simplifying the game. That's something I'm on board with. We all know golf is a complex game in general, but the intricacies of the swing itself can often be baffling. The average joe needs the swing to be as simple and repeatable as possible. DeChambeau is on to something there.

Can't compare the two. Imagine a modern day Ben Hogan, not the Ben Hogan you know. Car crash, nearly dead, comes back to set the golf world on fire probably better over a short period than any golfer in the history of the game. The guy would literally be unstoppable and his entire life would be subject to scrutiny. There would be some crappy Hollywood movie about him featuring Tobey Maguire (authentic Ben) or Tom Cruise (superstar Ben). Add in network tv, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, reality tv and I guarantee you would know every single hair follicle on this face, what kind of shoelaces he prefers and everything he'd said and done since the age of 2. Ben Hogan would be treated the same way as BAD, no doubt in my mind, probably more ridiculous by a factor of 5.

I'm a fan. I like that he's forging a new path in golf, possibly encouraging others to try new things. The whole mad scientist thing is a lark IMO, mostly blown up by the media looking for something titillating in a sport filled with pretty generic personalities. I think he really is that meticulous they just overstate it like everything else they do when looking for a story.

I like Chambeau. He is very smart and a lot of the stuff he talks about I get because I'm a science guy. When you are #5 in the world, you can't say how he plays and thinks about the game is wrong.

This is WRX - we can argue about a lot of things.

I personally can't stand the kid... and it has nothing to do with his playing style. His attitude is terrible. Whiny little brat if you ask me.

Also, his gf is faker than a blow up doll. Such a shame, because I knew her 10 years ago. She's really done herself no favors.

She can caddie for me any day.

For fans of Bryson who weren't aware, he did a pretty fun interview this week on the ForePlay podcast. I've cooled on the pod in general recently but this was a good interview to "humanize" him a bit. Added bonus of being at the beginning of the podcast so you don't have to listen to the rest of it!
