Most ridiculous thing heard on the range

Some old guy at the chipping green told me to put a cracker in my mouth to reduce tension when chipping and pitching. NO JOKE he pulls out some friggin saltines and offers one, I said no thanks hahahahha it was so strange I just kept giggling through out the session.

See, it worked. Hard to be tense when you’re giggling!

I was hitting balls at work over lunch and member comes over, exchanged pleasantries we had not seen each other since spring as he went north to New York area. He saw I had an orange whip leaning against my bag. He asked if he could use it and I said of course, so he grabs it and proceeds to tee up a ball and I asked, “Mr. so-and-so, ah what are you doing?” And he says well “I’ve always wanted to try this...don’t you have to swing perfectly to hit it straight with the ball at the end and keep a smooth tempo because of the flexy shaft?” I just laughed and explained what it actually is, but that he might have a great idea for a new swing trainer. I spent the rest of the day wondering if that would work, in too scared to try it though....maybe I’ll ask an intern lol.

If I’m not mistaken I’m pretty sure there’s a video of Vijay Singh using one of those striping balls on the range

Not really ridiculous but hilarious...Billy Butler joined our club and has been transitioning from baseball to golf over the past year or so grinding extremely hard and not surprisingly getting good very fast. But he's still learning.

He's down on the range pounding balls seemingly swinging out of his shoes with every swing. Member walks up and says "Hey Billy, ya swinging hard enough?" Billy turns to him and tells him dead serious "I'm swinging as hard as can".

Ha, what more do you expect from a guy nicknamed big country breakfast?

Get rid of the shanks on the range before you play.

Why the hell didn’t I think of this??? It’s like emptying your bladder before your round. Just shank an entire bucket of balls pre round and presto, no more shanks on the course.

This guy was jumping around the range like he was on speed hitting his driver. He bounces over to me (unsolicited) and pointing at his broken tee still in the ground, "See that? That's how you can tell it was a perfect hit, when it breaks the tee every time!" Yeah... OK, whatever you say, just go away.

I was thinking how demoralized he must be when at a range/course with softer turf and the tee NEVER broke.

Actually I don't hate them....it's the people who buy clubs thinking the clubs will make them better. And actually my comment about lofts getting out of whack off mats came directly from folks posting on the PXG thread.

Ah, I see. Well,I can tell you, as a mid handicapper I have benefited from my PXG clubs. But that’s my personal experience.

There are no bad clubs. I'm curious as to what irons you replaced with the PXGs.

Initial issued of the AP1. I just wanted something different and when the Heroes Program showed up, it was a great opportunity.

Been fitted was the biggest difference between the two. My AP1's were OTR, and they were fine for me, I just wanted an upgrade.

I tried them before and I knew that I was going to do well with them.

Funny but a bit scary thing I heard at the range today:

“Don’t die on me...”

I turned around and the dude in back of me said that. No Bluetooth, no phone in, no headphones, no one near us. He was hitting the ball what seemed to be pretty well and so was I. I still don’t know who the hell he was talking to or why he said that but I packed up and went to the chipping area.

Might not have been the funniest but, in hindsight, it was semi comedic.

Hopefully you’ve got a couple spare Odyssey’s in the trunk. Walk over and tell him you’ll sell them to him “cheap”!
