Since joining GolfWRX...

I have spent more time sitting at my desk on the computer than playing golf. My basement has more driver shafts than wall studs. There is never a moment where there is not a golf related product "out for delivery". My 7 iron went from a 155 carry to 230. There are 16 different model golf balls in my bag, one for every situation. I have signed up for every giveaway and won none and am starting to get paranoid. Constipated. I now speak in a golf language that only my fellow golfers understand. I wear hats more often. Started a bank account 3 counties over that my wife has no idea about. I hate ANY offset (even though it actually helps me). If it does not say forged, I can't play it. Me looking over my spec sheet for all my clubs is like Tank looking at the Matrix. I get upset when the store does not have X-stiff. My dogs stopped pooping in the house.

How about you?

I learned (by and large) to avoid senseless arguments about golf - and related topics - on the internet. Who would've thought that staff bags, "blades" (whatever the hell those are - I guess Muscleback just doesn't sound cool enough), and TaylorMade would be such polarizing and antagonistic subjects?

Now I know better.

I'll agree that offset is a good thing, but this forum can be bad for you. Everything in moderation. The truth is in the dirt. Put a good swing on a club built yesterday or 40 years ago and you'll hit a good shot if the club fits you. You can play your best golf with a $3000 bag full of the latest or the rentals you used on vacation last year. Don't let these posts rule your head. Now I need to go shaft up the Maltby DBM Forged heads I bought because I read the Maltby thread.......

Since I’ve joined Wrx, I’ve learned to pack heat on the golf course. I’ve also bought a Predator suit so I can play 18 holes in 13 minutes and not piss anybody off by playing thru everybody who can’t see me.

I’m a middle-aged scratch who can break 85 at Augusta with greens stimped at 27. With no caddie, and I mark all my balls with huge poker chips on the greens. I’m sure none of playing partners mind at all. I also listen to music on my Bluetooth speakers and only turn it down when I hit on the 22 yr old cart girl.

But enough about me. Not. I gifted payment for a driver and now the guy says he won’t come back from vacation for another 8 years, and now I’m out my $2.99 for a Tour-issue driver, straight from the Tour, with prototype shafts, prototype grip and prototype headcover, prototype bubble wrap and prototype box . BTW, is this Scotty real? Who is Cameron? Are Scotty and Cameron the same or similar? Do the letters COA mean anything? Cameron is spelled C-A and this Cameron came with a C-O-A, so since the spelling is off it must be fake right?

Hilarious!

On a serious note, I do bring protection to the golf course. A friend of mine got robbed and beaten up at the golf course when I lived in Georgia. And been a retired law enforcement officer it was a no brainer for me.

I've pretty much given up on the equipment threads. A while back, I used to think that better equipment would make me a better golfer. That didn't last long, fortunately.

Now I just laugh and shake my head when someone with a 10 HC (or worse) goes gaga about some club or shaft that some tour pro uses, and said person hasn't a chance of swinging it like the pro does. But they spend their money anyway. But hey, it's their money.

When i first joined,I was drawn,(out of mis-guided knowledge seeking,) to the instruction threads. Now my advice to any newbie is to remain silent in

that one for at least ten years ! Hell hath no fury like Swing Gurus Scorned !

Isn’t that the truth!

My third or fourth post ever was in there. The question was “How do you hit a hook?” I thought, innocently enough, I can hook a ball pretty much on command and oftentimes when not commanded.

Well, I got hammered bc I never referenced ball flight laws and I was wrong. To this day, regardless of the change in physics since I figured it out 25 years ago, I still do it incorrectly, yet the ball still seems to hook for me.

I wonder if that O.P. ever learned how to do it, or if he just learned about the math?

Never seen so many threads in which the moderators have to pre-approve comments, lol....

Been a moderator is a thankless job, no thanks, lol....

If a equipment maker can’t take the heat, perhaps they are in the wrong business. Moderators should not have to spend their time babysitting threads because the putter maker, equipment maker, or their fans, got their feelings hurt.

Well like the late commentator Robert D Raeford said "We are living in the United States of the offended" Now I think that has expanded to the whole damn world of the offended. Now days one can say the least little thing and someone gets offended and gets a case of the butthurt

I've learned a lot and made some solid internet buds

I've learned that I thought I knew a lot about golf but some fella's here are next level

I now have about 230-300 clubs in the man cave and probably 40 driver, fwy and shaft pulls as well

Tinkering is fun, you can find unicorns .. I HAVE DONE IT. One exception .. the 7 shafts I have tried in my i500 six iron with ZERO success

(PS I do have a RIP Beta 60x ... in white .. on the way from the bay). And last week I tossed some Ozik's into rapture J spec mid irons, and I am still on the prowl for more graphite shafts for my short irons ....

Last weekend some friends dropped by and were amazed to see...

3 sets of clubs in the office

50ish golf clubs in the laundry golf club room

3 sets in the basement by the pool table

2 bags full of drivers/woods back by the furnaces (TM Bubble shafts and persimmons)

4 wedges in the master

the golf ball closet with about 1,500 new balls and 500 found balls

the golf polo closet

2 bags of clubs in the garage

1 golf shoe closet

and probably a lot of other things I'm forgetting.

I moved to Europe and bought a set of Hogans on the local version of craigslist before I left. Then proceeded to fly across the Atlantic with a set of Dynamic gold s300’s, ferrules, grips/grip tape, and shaft epoxy in my luggage. Because bringing a set from home was too much hassle and the $60 price was right. Built the clubs to my specs using a camping stove to pull shafts. And in true wrx spirit, I don’t like the feel too much and need to get something new...

Got to love the WRX, like u said so many here with next level knowledge.

No shortage of clubs/shafts etc cardoustie, keep up the good work.

Wow, your pretty persistent on the i500's good luck in your search. I'm waiting for a set of i500's [i110 steelfibers] I had delivered to my brother in Texas, hope they work well for me.

What model of Ozik's did you try in the JSpec raptures? I have some program 130's in some BC Ping Zing's.

I recently had recoil 110's installed in my JV2's, friggin awesome combination.

The 5,6,7 JV2's have been just great, the 6 iron has been the best 6 iron I have ever hit. Nothing wrong with the rest of the set either. Just like trying new things. Glad to hear someone else is singing the J spec rapture iron praises. Yours the first generation?
