Prosoft inserts

I played the KBS c-taper 120S before. I'm getting older and later in the round I know I'm getting tired. I have some graphite shafts, but I'm not sold on the feel. So, I was looking for the dampening effect of the prosofts as well as adding the lighter weight. And, well, I like to try different things.

Just ordered some PSI... I thought there had to be a better way, like some type at Home Depot, but I don't see a reason to take a chance when this stuff is as cheap as it is.... Problem is, you don't know your shaft is rotting from the inside out till it's too late, then you can pretty much guarantee when one goes, the rest are soon to follow. I doubt anyone would come on here to tell us how they were wrong, but I hope it doesn't happen. Good luck, I'm just not willing to take the chance. Hoping these help out in some X100s.

For me there was zero comparison. Graphite was superior by a wide margin. But that's with me and my particular condition. Different conditions will have different sensitivities so may not 'see' the differences as severe as I did.

Prosoft inserts help, but I'm with @Stuart_G, there really isn't a comparison.

I've been using PSI's in my steel shafts for about 6 years now. With as little as they cost it is worth the small investment to keep hand arthritis at bay. It's a small gain in the sum of a bigger purpose (ie. stretching, strength training, supplements, etc. + Pro Soft Inserts  )

Graphite is noticeably better but PSI are much better than plain steel and different steel shafts, to me at least, are harder in your elbows. Played DGS300 105 with PSI and they still felt "brittle". Nippon NS Pro Modus3 Tour 105 with PSI felt better. Going round and round with Steelfiber's and Recoil's right now and there is no comparison in vibration reduction between graphite and steel with PSI. Graphite is so much easier on my elbows.

Is there any reason that blowing grips on would disturb the prosoft insert install?

I have the same question. Getting ready to install prosoft inserts and was assuming I shouldn't blow on grips. I may give it a try and see what happens and report back.

I've installed Prosoft inserts on several sets of clubs and then blown the grips on and haven't experienced any issues.

I've also blown off grips with Prosoft inserts already in place and haven't experienced any issues.

Yes, air can sneak past them, once you release the pressure at the grip, they pop up the shaft, can go completely against the grip. They can also be pushed down the shaft and jam. Use a wire probe and see if they moved while gripping. I had a small hook to pull them back into place, when I used them. I found them to be a waste of time, money and effort. Get a good set of graphite shafts and be done with it.

Excellent, thanks. I’m doing a new iron set build now with KBS $ taper having played recoils for several years and figured I would do the prosofts as a precaution.

Thats if the user is willing to go graphite. For those that are hanging on to steel the pro softs "help".

Just spent 2 hours trying to get 5/8 rod backing into a LZ 5.0 shaft.  Totally frustrated. Coat hangers, oil, Screw drivers, car antennas, dowel rods, all a failure.

Use another shaft if you have one and push it in that way. Goes down plenty far enough.

That's why Prosoft sells an installation tool.  It's got a forked end that digs down into the insert to get a good bite while pushing to install.

Done. 5/8 backing from Lowe’s. Cut 8.5 inches. Used 12 gauge shotgun bore brush with some gun oil to clean up inside of shaft and lube it a bit. “Screwed” foam in and inserted a screwdriver about half way in to let out air build up. Continue to oil rod and screw in. Last inch or two push to get it in then use an older shaft to push it in to the 3.5 inches inside shaft. Still tedious work but got them in.
