Well it just had to be done, no body’s fault really.... these things happen.......it not you it’s me......

Had to tell my playing partner it’s over. We played our last round, went the bar, I looked long into his eyes and told him. You’re a great guy but we can’t play golf together anymore. There were lots of emotion but the bandaid needed to be ripped off. I told him life is too short for 5 hr rounds lining up 8” puts. Told him I deserve not having to watch his six practice swings, the constant ball searching, the endless parade of people I have to let play through. I had to tell him that I’m getting older and rounds were passing me by. After some discussion of joint custody of the beer cooler and the alignment sticks, we parted quietly into the dark. I hope there’s someone out there for me

People move in different directions. Life is definitely too short for that sh*t. Highly recommend lots of flirting, one round stands, and short term dalliances before committing.

Sometimes reflecting on the good memory could and would stop the thoughts of separation. Those moments of joy, the sweaty rounds in the hot Summer days and the sharing of drinks afterward........ think about it .

I hope it ended well. We tossed a guy this year whom we’d been playing with for over a decade. He made playing golf feel like going to a job you hated.

 

We see him on the putting green, now, and he won’t even acknowledge us. We did get all the mutual friends in the split.

I think you may need to take an honest look at yourself before your next relationship. Why were you attracted to this selfish partner in the first place? Did you think he would change for you? Why did you put his needs first?

 

You need to understand why you were attracted to him before you enter into you ext relationship and follow these steps:

• Care as much about yourself as you do for others
  
• Maintain your boundaries
  
• Do what you need to do to be you

One of the players in my group at a particular tournament was extremely slow, finicky lining up his putt from every direction and just kept yapping the entire around. So I feel your pain. Me and my normal playing partner we're just about ready to strangle him. I could not play golf with him on a regular basis, I would probably end up in some sort of fight with him or telling him off in a nasty fashion. The best thing to do is what you did just tell him what had to be done.

My league partner is glacial andmight have to move on eventually. I was told in the first league night that his preshot used to be 4 minutes. It's under a minute usually now but man, sometimes he is slow. I might be looking at doing this.

I have the same situation but don’t have the heart to look said friend in the face and says it’s over.

 

Too close a friend yet too painful to play sometimes. Had a million discussions from trying to be humorous about the situation to a heart to heart over many dinners, but he remains clueless and in denial.
