Sounds like you might be getting more benefit from the increase in grip size than the shock absorption capabilities of the grip. But whatever works.

For sure. I think today will be the trial of the absorption Benifits. I hit 10 balls each on sky teal, so not nearly enough to say how it will affect shock.

Gonna hit a large bucket today. Scary?

My hands hurt when I got back into golf. I also had carpal tunnel a decade or so ago, in my case related to golf.

Larger grips and sensicore inserts helped me initially, but ultimately it was a grip pressure thing. 'Control' to me was squeezing the life out of the club while at the same time trying to manipulate it and guide it, and it was very hard for me to correct that tendency.

Ultimately it was playing a game of increasingly reducing my grip pressure with each successive shot until I felt like I was barely holding on. It's a drill I had to repeat for months. In reality, my version of barely holding on was holding on plenty.

Good luck!!

Just read this whole thread. I’m guessing there may be an issue of FAR too much grip pressure. Especially if an oversized but firm grip immediately helps. Actual bruising on your fingers and hands and constant pain? That’s Rare.

In addition to the bigger grips I would absolutely go to a heavy extra stiff graphite like a Recoil Proto 125 F5 or steelfiber 125x There is no issue with your swing speed or switching from X100’s.

I use Recoil proto 125 f5’s with sensicore inserts In all my 4 of my wedges because I practice the most with them and have arthritis. I’ve kept the steel in the irons with sensicores mainly because I’m stubborn and quite used to them. At some point I’ll have to change them too.

It hurts the next day just to close my hands after a good 2 or 3 hour practice session. It really does not hurt much WHILE I play or right afterwards though. Not until later.

Edit....oh yeah. Blades with finger and hand pain?? P730 is about the last club I’d ever play with finger and hand pain. Nothing stings worse than a true blade when you miss the middle. I’d try some goo filled thin faced hollow 790’s.

Great Reply thanks!

I know it's not the most usual thing, but I think going from zero Golf to Golf for five hours every day for six months good caused me some bruising! However, to your point, I have been gradually reducing grip pressure as I've been improving this season. I was definitely gripping too hard at the beginning of the season, but feels though I've got it to as light as I can get it while still in control.

Yeah thinning a shot with blades is pretty terrible, on my MP5 it was pretty brutal. I may avoid this until bruises/carpal tunnel is resolved almost completely. I just didn't want to re-gripped my 900 with new UTXs I just installed before knowing if it was really anything other than bruising. I really think it's just bruising , I have been taking the last five days off and I'm seeing improvement.

But as it turns out that's neither here nor there, because I've fallen in love with the feel of the jumboMax grip. I am absolutely regripping my whole set, as my grip pressure was the lowest It has ever been. Pain is drastically reduced, and I assume will be eliminated with more time off and switching to these grips. Shots are straight, no problem with that. It feels easier to swing, period, for I'm sure many other reasons that I will become more aware of as I continue playing with them. I will probably need a new bag, but I was looking at getting a bigger one to hold Some small cameras anyways.

I'm sure I'll catch a bit of stick for saying this, but I'm not sure why more pros are not playing them. It feels that good. I may amend that statement after a couple rounds with a full set, I'll update once grips get in.

Update:

went with lighter shafts to offset the heavy grip.DG x100 SL in irons, modus 105x in wedges, jumbomax tour medium grips.

x100 SL seems to be quite tip heavy, to the point where i dont think i will bother with tip weights yet. I am absolutely smashing the ball, easily best ever, so glad i decided to go back to jumbomax. gonna go ahead and order backups. dunno what the wear is like.

the clubs are heavy, but just light enough that i last 18 no problem.

No pain in my hands!

Thanks again for all the responses.
