True Linkswear Original and Outsiders?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience with the larger sizes? Like Size 15s. Here is my dilemma, I had ordered the True Motions back when those were released based on everyone say how well these fit for people with wider feet and all that good stuff. I wear size 15 footjoys, all models, never had a problem with fit. I got these and they were way too small couldn't even get my foot in. I am just wondering was that a fluke due to model/production, I remember reading something once that those weren't as wide as some of the first models. Anyways, I want to try the originals but am hesitant due to my first time trying. Any insight would be awesome!

I wear 15s and the Originals seem to me to fit pretty true to size. I can't compare them to the Motions as I skipped all of the intermediate models that came after the 2nd gen Tour and Sensei. They are, to me, a hair narrower than the old school models, but it's a very minor difference.

True site says they offer free returns, so there's that.

I have 3 pair of the Originals now, gray/navy, black, white. Most comfortable golf shoes i've owned.

Would you guys get the outsiders or originals if you had to choose 1?

Tough call. Originals are my favorite, but just finished vacation with tons of walking and chose to take the Outsiders for a little more support and they were great - for me, not sure I'd walk 18+ in the Originals several days in a row (but they stayed home, so don't know for sure).

I'd go Outsiders because I prefer the look. Trues are amazing....I love my Sensei's and have True Motions as well as Elements Pro n the way. Ebay has some amazing deals on older Trues...

Bought Outsiders in May and have never looked back. Easily the best golf shoe ive owned. However, this morning was my first major issue. Played in heavy due/wetness in the Northeast and my feet were absolutely SOAKED by the turn. I had to run into the pro shop and buy new socks for the back 9 and by 17 they were wet.

Has anyone had issue with the waterproofing?

I've had a pair of Originals since June and the last couple of rounds it's been wet and dewy (but not actively raining) and my feet got soaked. It's a little disappointing since their advertising focused so heavily on how waterproof they are.

Yea im with you. I love the shoes...i will be wearing them next season 100% i just wanted to see how far off my pair with. But to advertise 2 years is annoying

Haven’t worn a pair of True’s since the OG Tours and Stealths. Are the new models as comfy as the originals?

I own 1 pair of OGs, 3 pairs of the 2nd gen Tours and a pair of Senseis. Have loved all of them. Stopped buying Trues after that, the subsequent shoes didn't appeal to me at all.

Bought a pair of the new Originals. Really impressed with the improved quality, these are well constructed shoes. And yet, I find myself not wearing them. They're a bit narrower than the old Trues -- not a bunch, just a bit -- and they aren't large to size either. They're cramped. It's a my feet issue, not so much a True issue.

IMO the new, redesigned, TRUE shoes are so much better than the originals. They are a little more narrow than the original designs so I would suggest going a half size larger than the early models. But they are on a completely different level from a quality perspective. The leather is softer, higher end and is a much higher quality product. The overall styling is less awkward. The traction is much better. Comfort is great. I think they are more comfortable than before because the leather is a lot softer and less rigid. Lastly, mine are holding up a lot better than the old models. My early pairs almost felt disposable. Like they would be destroyed in 20-25 rounds. These are holding up really well. Just a much better and higher quality product.

I've had my all season and haven't had any issues with the waterproofing. It's been pretty dry all year tho. I'll come back to this post later this year if I notice anything. I'm sure they'll help you out if you contact their support team.

I had a pair of outsiders and had some small issues with the leather cracking in the area that the shoe flexes as I walk, and began having waterproofing issues at that point. I emailed customer service and sent pictures and they were fantastic. When they offered to send me a new pair, I asked if I could try the Originals and sure enough, I had a paid of originals coming my way.

While I was a big fan of the outsiders, I'm an even bigger fan of the Originals. I now own two pairs of them, plus a pair of the Knits. Can't recommend this shoe enough.

Played 18 last Monday in a pair of Originals through constant drizzle with light showers through the first 15 holes. My feet were still bone dry after the round.

Courses around here are soaked from all the rain we have received this season but my feet stay dry in my Original's.

Man, the originals are intriguing. I happen to click on an ad on another golf website and wanted to the take on golfwrx'ers. Lo and behold, there's a thread on it and I'm leaning towards trying these out. I currently have Ecco Biom Hybrid 3 and a UA pair. Ecco is great for waterproofing but the fit isn't the greatest for my feet. UA haven't been tested in the rain. The originals look great but I wish I can try them on for sizing, fit, and feel.

So why do we buy shoes that say they are waterproof but are not....esp for the money we pay these companies?

Same for me with Biom Hybrid 3 GTex.

The leather has no waterproofing, so when its really soaking the membrane and wet leather, just soak your socks.

Adidas are pretty good, but had some issues with them, and FJ in some models as well.

The one shoe for me that is BONE DRY all the time, is the FJ Pro SL.

Update...mailed them back last friday..they got to True Linkswear today...they were tested found to not be water proof...they mailed me out a new pair today...very good process

That's great to hear. Their customer service people asked me to send mine to their new Canadian distributor for evaluation, but I haven't heard back and it's been about 3 weeks. I'll have to ping them again to see what's going on.
