He should have to pay his caddie more than the standard 10% of earnings for that.

And is that a ball retriever and one of those little scrub brushes for your irons i see attached on his bag as well?

I’m betting against him after seeing those headcovers.

Is the brush in the same league as iron covers and ball retrievers now?

Most definitely.

One of those “you know you’re in for a long day” sorts of things when you see a guy with one. Played with a guy a few wks ago who cleaned his irons with that little wire brush after EVERY shot.

Then proceeded to shoot about 105?

Don’t forget the pushcart with a seat on it. The 4 wheeled models are starting to pop up. He can have a sit and wire brush his clubs then let them dry while looking for balls in the ponds before slipping his head covers back on.

Lol, that is news to me. But, if you don't have one, how do you clean your irons/wedges during a round?

Would seem more difficult to dig dirt out of the grooves with a tee that doesn't fit wouldn't it?

I admittedly use one. Always have. Everyone I know does. This is the first I've heard it mentioned in the same e breath as a ball retriever. Seems too convenient to get the sand, dirt, and grass out of the grooves with a couple swipes.

Hey, I had a seat on my Clicgear, before I got my electric trundler. The irony was I never got to use the seat because we are always first or second off, so there was no opportunity to sit.

The five hour club champ rounds on the other hand, bliss...

Yeah, I didn't realize that having clean clubs wasn't cool these days. It still amazes me how many people don't realize that it's not golf balls that wear down grooves. It's the dirt in between the club and the ball that causes wear.

I couldn't imagine what a wedge would look like after an entire round without cleaning it. Would there be any visible grooves, or would they be covered in dirt?

One wet towel and one dry. Super quick. Super easy to do. Same as caddies on tv. Never seen one with a brush.

But was just giving you guys a hard time. The brush is just a brush. Now ball retrievers and head covers. You know you’re in for a long round. Takes a while to polish each club enough between shanks to be able to put the covers back on. Can’t put them back on dirty.

Now true story. I usually don’t clean my sand and lob wedge grooves. Helps control spin . Sometimes so caked I have to wet it first to loosen the dirt up. Lol.

I'll admit that when I played a course with soft greens I purposely left the dirt in the grooves. I'd clean off the face still though. I was just trying to keep the spin down. So I get that part of it...

I've tried that route, but found it difficult to keep the towel wet for 4 hours. When it's hot out anyways.

Yes. True. Usually requires a couple re applications at the water Cooler stations.

To be honest, I never really thought about leaving the grooves filled with dirt as a way to control spin. Not a bad idea. I'm an alright player. But, I lack the skill (and time to develop the skill) to control my spin consistently with my contact/attack angle. I can add spin, but seem to turn a great shot into a 20+ foot putt at the worst times.

I have a brush, clean my irons after every shot, takes less time than most people whine over their poorly struck shots....I break 80 pretty much all the time, must be cuz my grooves are clean.

Lol. I exaggerate as you know.

But if I’m hitting a lot of wedges it does add up. Definitely not a club polisher mid round.

Same here. A quick swipe with the brush followed by a wipe with my wet towel takes only a few seconds after a shot. The alternative would be to use a tee which takes longer or not do it at all, which is not an option for me.

I would agree 1000%. My ocd, doesn't allow dirty clubs back in the bag... I actually have a small flip-top, bottle with some soapy water that I use to spray the head then brush, then wipe with MF Towel.. 15 Sec tops..

Meanwhile players who have 2 min pre-shot routines never even notice.. lol
