I went for a fitting as my swing had gotten better and not working with what I had been using. So out of lots of combinations we settled on this.

 

Should correct. It's devotion 7 stiff at 75 gram. Not the devotion 4 shaft.

Just put the Devotion 7S ("04" flex) in a 3-wood, and now seriously considering trying the Devotion 6X ("05" flex) in my driver.

 

Was recently fit for a full bag at Club Champion (see my "WITB" below for the rest of my bag). As for the 3-wood, after hitting numerous balls with several heads in a couple different shafts, it was clear that the TaylorMade M2 TOUR fairway (15*) was night and day better than anything else for my swing. Spin came down significantly and carry distance increased more than 20 yards over other M1/M2 models and Titleist 917F. Epic Sub Zero came close on the numbers but I didn't like the look, sound or feel. Having selected the TM M2 TOUR head, we tried numerous shafts to dial in spin and distance. We narrowed down to a few shafts that were giving roughly optimal numbers. The three main contenders were the Oban Devotion 7S, the Tensei Black and the HZRDUS black. Of those three, the Devotion felt the best (and, lucky for me, cost about half as much as the others).

 

Now I'm seriously thinking of trying the 6X in my driver. That's the one club I didn't change on the last fitting because i was swinging too poorly to get a reliable fitting. As with all of my shots, I generally hit my drives high and with too much spin. Unlike other clubs, the driver is the one club where I struggle with leaving the face open, which leads to high launch, high spin blocks to the right. So I'm thinking the Devotion may do a nice job of lowering my launch and spin, and that the 3.6* of torque (unusually high for a low/low shaft) may help me square the face through impact. At $199 it's a much cheaper experiment than most driver shafts I've tried!

I'm probably like most that think something better is JUST AROUND THE NEXT CORNER.

 

Been gaming the Oban Devotion for a few years but kept on trying new and previously used shafts but always found other shafts may have their own positives over the Devotion, the negatives like wider dispersion, inconsistent launch, higher spin rates always made me eventually try the Devotion again.

 

Been struggling with finding fairways and as a last resort, installed the Devotion back in my Cally Epic driver and almost immediately found I was hitting fairways again consistently.

 

With the Devotion, I don't get those occasional launches that go high and fade to the right loosing 50 metres of distance, don't get those low scunges to the left that catch me off guard, the DEVOTION is just a consistent shaft, great feel and fantastic results.

 

I recently purchased a 2016 TM M1 driver thinking I'd get extra distance, got good results but poorer swings really cost me big time, game the Epic with Devotion, back down the fairway.

I have the devotion 8 04 and it has been FANTASTIC. probably my favorite fairway shaft of all time. great ball flight and super responsive.

Bringing back a dead thread here - Any other newer offerings that feel like the devotion? I actually know of one, because I was told by TXG after I tried it that it was basically a Devotion clone - The VA Composites Raijin. However, there's very little on the used market on eBay and I'm looking for something to pop in my 3w possibly if my current Kai'li doesn't work out. I've had spin issues with Blueboard profile in the past... GREAT feel but ballooned on me a bit.

 

I was fit into a Raijin 74x during my fitting but I couldn't stomach the $350 upcharge for the shaft. Probably next year I can splurge but right now I need to fill that gap. Anything else out there? Otherwise I may have to spend the full retail price for the Devo which looks to currently be $190.

I find the devotion to feel boardy. It significantly reduces spin, if needed, but the cost is that you have a shaft that doesn’t feel nearly as good as alternative low/low shafts like the Ahina.
