Lexi Thompson's GTR

Lexi drives a Datsun? Considering her name, I thought she'd have a couple of Lexus on the driveway.

Datsun? Lol. Going way back I see.

Actually, Datsun is back. They released a model for the Indian market in 2015 and now they are also insulting Indonesians with the same vehicle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datsun_Go

With 51 kW of power, 104NM of torque (that's 66 lb-ft for the non-metrics) and zero stars on the crash test - in fact, the whole car more or less collapses into a raisin - I don't think it will make it's way to the developed markets.

Video kind of proves the point. From a 45 mph roll the Ferrari gets it. From a dead start it would be diffferent. Traction is king.

The video is a standing start and the F12 is always ahead.

Lol. Disagree. I’ll rewatch in a few and if I’m wrong I’ll say so. But also looks like Ferrari starts ahead and jumps. You can’t see the GTR until the backward camera shot.

Edit. Rewatched. Maybe was technically a standing start. But really weak sauce from both. Not a hint of tire spin from either. Put a real driver in each and let’s see. So weak I thought it was a rolling start. That’s turrible!! Lol

Sorry and hate to be that guy but i’d take my old 125 shifter kart in a 0-60 race any day. There is a reason most F1 guys still out in seat time in them. Say they are the closest vehicle on wheels in terms of comparing g’s in turns.

Lots of German, Italian, Japanese and British cars here and very few American? Donald won’t be happy.. ?

Yeah I mentioned in another thread I think....like what's wrong with a ZL1 or ZR1? I mean no one has the new ZR1? Why isn't that more of a status car. Too track oriented?

Nice to see some more 911's on there, can't wait to see what the 992 looks like. 92 is my lucky number but it will be too pricey to flip into one from my 997.2

Frankly, I don't get that some guys don't care for Poulter and his cars and watches. Maybe it is him showing them off.

I'd probably be doing the same if in his snack bracket

A question that’s been asked for a long time. Corvette ZR1 is certainly the most capable hard core “stock” sports car your $120,000 can buy.

755 hp V8. immensely fast and track capable right out of the dealership.

It somehow has developed this weird stigma as the middle America “retirement gift to myself” or “mid life crisis” mobile. It’s very strange. It’s a great automobile.

When the all new 2020 mid engine model comes out next year hopefully that will change.

There are some really nice cars on view here but despite all of the very expensive very fast motors, which I am finding somewhat predictable

I once heard men who drive big dollar, high end sports cars are trying to compensate for something, well.... not so big.... and it`s not their ego.

Seems totally legit

What did you hear about women who drive big dollar, high end sports cars, such as Lexi?

I never heard anything about about the ladies. With your eye rolling emoji it seems I may have offended you, sorry if that`s the case. It was just a saying a guy I used to work with said when he would see yuppies driving fancy sports cars. His philosophy was they must drive fancy sports cars to show the ladies how much money they made, he figured none of them were actual "car guys", and probably didn`t even know what a car battery looked like.. lol.

He was probably right 95% of the time too.

com'n now... very few men didn't drool over a cool car at a young age, and if/when you've made it, why not be able to purchase that car you had dreamed about as a kid?

Weird how often debates on WRX are basically trying to figure out how often you can apply a stereotype? Who cares? You can apply it all the time, but every time you're wrong, you're 100% wrong.

Only guy I've ever know that owned any real exotic cars was a race car driver. His dad had him driving competitively since early childhood. He never "made it" but I'm pretty sure he can drive. He also doesn't have to work. So, if you saw him as a young yuppie driving a special car and assumed he's not a car guy, you'd be 100% wrong.

I can't afford fancy cars, but every time I see one I'm grateful for guys and gals who prioritize doing business with a specialty car manufacturer. The world would be a pretty boring place if we all had to decide between a Camry, Accord, or Mazda6.

Guys see me drive up to the golf course and assume looking at my ride that I'm not a car guy. Wrong. I've ripped old FJ40's down to their frames and kept a VW Westy on the road for 20 years doing 90% of the work myself. It's just not in the cards for me at the moment. Such is life.

If I had two majors under my belt and a huge contract with a sporting clothing company I'd be tuned in to the Michael Fux sell off coming up. That'd be a fun day to shop. I'd also rent track time, but to each their own.
