Help Me Replace My 983K!

I'd like to get a new driver with the workability and the solid crack of the 983K with more forgiveness to keep it in the fairway. I tried the 905T and the R7 TP but I didnt like the sound I was getting from both and I was getting only few more yards for distance with no noticeable forgiveness.

I have come up with this so far:

R510 TP
R5 TP
460 Launcher Comp
G2

Thanks!

My votes for the Comp, I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, ahhhh how I remember the shots with the demo. I've also tried the R7 TP, nice club but nothing flash. The G2 is a awesome club though, just behind the comp in my opinion.

As a sidenote, have you tried the Tour edge driver, I hear it's as insanely long just like fairway woods. Haven't had yet myself, there a bit hard to get hold of at this end of the world.

So a shaft replacement may be the way to go even if I'm looking for more forgiveness? I currently have the NV65S. What should I go with?

Hmmm, i wouldn't go as far as forgiveness. The 938k isn't really a forgiving driver. A proper shaft will probably give you more accuracy, better feel, and most of all more distance. However, forgiveness is probably not one of those things I would turn to a new shaft for.

I still love my 983K but I just need more forgiveness since I've been having a hard time keeping it out of the rough. I tried the 905T, 460 Comp, and the R7 TP and I didnt like any of those. Mostly due to the sound. I'd like a larger head with the same old solidcrack of the 983K. How does the G2 sound at impact? R5 TP? I know that the R510TP sounds more solid than the R7 TP (I compared them side by side). How does the R5 TP compare to the R510TP? Is the R5 TP more of a tink sound at impact or a solid thwak? Thanks

I used to play the 983K and went to the 905T and know what you are saying. I'm still using the 905T, but, I have hit several others. Have you tried the Nike Ignite 460? It reminds me of the 983K sound and is very forgiving.

I definately dont have enough for a tour driver as I'm trying to keep the budget under 300.

I'm giving up on the R7 for good though. I hated the tinny sound and I always will. I think that you need to have a driver that sounds good, looks good, and feels good (in other words, gives you confidence when you set it up) and the R7 doesnt do it for me.

Maybe the R510 TP though. It was the only TM driver I liked.

I've narrowed it down to:

Ignite 460

Comp 460

R510 TP

Any more? thanks :vava:

I know what you've been going through. I've hit the 983e and k, G2. Cleveland 400, Cleveland COMP, r7 TP, and a tour issue r510tp, and have had trouble stickting with one of them. Honestly the most solid of the clubs is the r510tp tour issue, and if you are trying to keep it under the $300 you have a very good chance of finding one of them on this site in the BST section and then you probably will get a very high quality shaft in the process instead of getting stuck with the usual NV or Prolaunch that comes in most of these drivers. I have had success with all of those drivers but 1, and that is the cleveland COMP. I bought one that even had a very good aftermarket shaft (accuflex evolution) and it was the worst driver I've ever hit. It was an easy 30 yards behind my G2, then I decided to take the shaft out of my G2 (shaqx) and put it in the COMP and it was still just as bad. I would really recommend demoing this for a couple rounds and get it on the launch monitor before you purchase one. Good luck, hope this helped
