716 AP2 love?

The 714 seems to have cult status.. not at much love for the 716. Found a set for a good price and am going to try them out. Trending to single digits. Pretty forgiving compared to Ping i200 which I'm coming from? Who's still playing them?

Edit: Regarding forgiveness, my miss is always towards toe never heel

I still got the 710's....(no i'm not ryan palmer)

Love that! I'd want to keep them for a long time. Tried the AP3 as it's more aimed at mid handicappers and I did not like it.. much preferred AP2. Hoping the 716 will give me enough help but still allow me to progress.

Tried the Ap3s also and that honeymoon did t last long , bad head and shaft combo for me . Went back to 714 ap2 s300 and my ball stricking came right back.

716s were my favorite. I never found the love for the 714s like everyone else, they're probably my least favorite to play. The 718s are pretty nice, too, but if I had to pick a set now, it would be the 716 closely followed by the 710s. May be in the market again soon actually...LOL

Been playing my 716s for a few months and love them. Have felt a bit clicker since the temps dropped but I'm sure it has more to do with the ball then the irons. But they do feel sweet when flushed. A bit firmer then the j36 pocket cavities I played for a long time.

Lots of love for them here, like all the AP2's its just a great all round iron. I have the same miss which is why I switched from my MP64's and since switching I have shot my 2 best rounds and totally fallen for them. Look great, very consistent distances and amazingly forgiving for the size of them. What's not to like?

Great to hear. After hitting a lot of irons and feeling more comfortable with a smaller iron in general, I sort of realized that if you miss middle any iron is going to suck. As long as I'm not getting fliers, I get good height and spin, and I don't lose a TON of distance and forgiveness from my i200 I'll be happy

I liked my 716s, but LOOOVE my 718s. Look at address between the two was pretty close to me but the 718 feel a tad better and they look so much better in the bag IMO. I also hit my 718 a tad longer on average with same shafts, but that may be the additional tungsten weighting providing a little more forgiveness as well.

I loved my 714ap2s. Hated the 716. Much clickier springy feel. Forgiveness was about the same. To me the 716s looked bigger but it was negligable.

The 718 ap2s are a thing of beauty. Feel fantastic and look great. But theyre definetly smaller looking then the 714 or 716.

Honestly wouldn't hate if they looked slightly bigger... Coming from the Pings and reading some threads on here it seems like I may be giving up a fair bit of forgiveness. Going to pop over to a big box store tomorrow and hit the 718 with KBS tour to see if the difference between my i200 and those is huge. If it isn't I think it's safe to assume the 716 will work for me.

Looking at these next to my CB's and they're nearly the same club.

Chalk up another used eBay set with weird specs... I think this is the 3rd set I've bought that lie angles have been 4 or more degrees up. Tall guys giving up on golf.

I hit these and CBs back to back. Almost no difference in forgiveness. I would play CB over AP2. I passed on them as my i200 are in a different world of ease.

Kept getting hung up about the loss of distance. It has been cold, so that always makes it tougher to tell. Started poking around with the idea of getting a new shaft, probably a 5 to be consistent, soft step it into the 6, and pull the rest of the set and soft step them all. Looked at the 6 iron against all my other six irons and it's about a quarter to a half inch short, so that was part of the reason. I think they'll come out about 1/4 inch over standard if I follow through. Could be perfect as my gap from my 6 iron to my 5 hybrid is too big.
