What are they driving? Cars of the Tour

Recommended Posts

If they are both stock, F12 has about 130 hp more but GTR's are easy to mod and get up to 750hp very cheaply. F12 is a rear wheel drive car, GTR is AWD, huge advantage getting off the line. 0-60 for stock GTR is 2.9 seconds, F 12 3.6 seconds.

haha this is like a supercars.net conversation, goes right to comparing apples to oranges a modded GT-R vs Ferrari

I'll take the Ferrari any day regardless of if my track car gets beat in a drag race by a modded one. If you want a straight line car just get a Tesla.

Reading comprehension is clearly not one of your strengths. I posted the 0 - 60 times for stock vehicles, not modded.

Life comprehension is not one of your strengths. My point is nobody in a Ferrari really cares that a Nissan GTR has a better 0-60 time because they are in a Ferrari. In addition, 0-60 is a one dimensional stat of a super sports cars performance.

Way to change the talking points. I opted for a GTR over a Ferrari, it makes a much better daily driver. 0-60 is still one of the prime statistics in measuring production car performance, guess you're not a car guy.

0-60 is a fun stat to brag about but nobody races to 60 mph. I judge a car more by it's 1/4 mile time for sure... rolling starts I would expect the Ferrari to eat the GTR up every time, but I could be wrong... GTR is a cool car, but I never found it that interesting, now a '95 TT supra?? Yes please.

Did you ever run that GTR in the 1/4 New2g0lf? Can never underestimate the driver mod!!!

Weird how often debates on WRX are basically trying to figure out how often you can apply a stereotype? Who cares? You can apply it all the time, but every time you're wrong, you're 100% wrong.

Only guy I've ever know that owned any real exotic cars was a race car driver. His dad had him driving competitively since early childhood. He never "made it" but I'm pretty sure he can drive. He also doesn't have to work. So, if you saw him as a young yuppie driving a special car and assumed he's not a car guy, you'd be 100% wrong.

I can't afford fancy cars, but every time I see one I'm grateful for guys and gals who prioritize doing business with a specialty car manufacturer. The world would be a pretty boring place if we all had to decide between a Camry, Accord, or Mazda6.

Guys see me drive up to the golf course and assume looking at my ride that I'm not a car guy. Wrong. I've ripped old FJ40's down to their frames and kept a VW Westy on the road for 20 years doing 90% of the work myself. It's just not in the cards for me at the moment. Such is life.

If I had two majors under my belt and a huge contract with a sporting clothing company I'd be tuned in to the Michael Fux sell off coming up. That'd be a fun day to shop. I'd also rent track time, but to each their own.

Have you ever been to Jon Shirley’s (believe that’s is name) open house or museum day? He lives in Seattle and is said to have the most extensive Ferrari collection in the world including several running f1 cars, one of which was Michael Schumachers. He opens his garage up once a year for people to just come look.

I don't drive up to Seattle that frequently, but thanks for the heads up. Would be worth it to see cool cars, with a round at Chambers Bay of course :)

I've heard good things about about that racing museum on the south side of PDX but I haven't stopped yet.

Here's some others I dug up online...

I'll go a little off topic...Here's my pick of the top 3 athletes with the best car collections (this doesn't include all, but rather some)

Christiano Ronaldo:

  • Rolls Royce Phantom,
  • Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4,
  • Audi RS6,
  • Mercedes-Benz C220,
  • Mercedes-Benz C Class Coupe Sport,
  • Bentley Continental GTC,
  • Bentley Continental GT Speed,
  • Porsche 911 Carrera 2S Cabriolet,
  • Porsche Cayenne,
  • Aston Martin DB9,
  • Audi R8,
  • Ferrari 599 GTO,
  • BMW M6,
  • Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano,
  • Maserati GranCabrio
  • Bugatti Veyron,
  • Ferrari F12 TDF

Floyd Mayweather:

floyd-mayweather-cars.jpg

  • 1996 600S Mercedes,
  • Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG,
  • two Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse units – black and white,
  • Ferrari 458 Italia Spider,
  • Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano,
  • Ferrari 430 Scuderia,
  • Ferrari Enzo,
  • Jeep Wrangler ‘TMT Edition’,
  • 2016 Rolls-Royce Phantom,
  • Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster,
  • customised ‘Money’ Lamborghini Murcielago,
  • Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita,
  • Bentley Mulsanne,
  • McLaren MP4-12C,
  • Maserati GranTurismo,
  • Porsche 911 Turbo S,
  • Bentley Flying Spur

Mike Tyson had quite a list back in the day:

  • Cadillac Eldorado,
  • Cadillac Seville,
  • Rolls Royce Silver Spur,
  • Rolls-Royce Corniche,
  • Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560SL,
  • Rolls-Royce Stretch Limousine,
  • 1990 Mercedes Benz 500 SL,
  • 1995 Ferrari F50,
  • Ferrari 456 GT Spyder,
  • Lamborghini Super Diablo Twin Turbo,
  • 1997 Bentley Continental T,
  • 2000 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster,
  • Jaguar XJ220,
  • Bentley Continental SC,
  • 1995 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit,
  • Range Rover,
  • Porsche 964 Speedster,
  • Rolls Royce Ghost,
  • Jaguar E-type,
  • Aston-Martin Lagonda,
  • Ferrari Testarossa,
  • BMW 850i,
  • Cadillac Escalade,
  • 1986 Lamborghini Jeep LM002

My personal favorite though is:

Kawhi Leonard

kawhi-leonard-1997-chevrolet-tahoe.jpg

Kawhi Leonard is one of the most intriguing players out there. Playing for San Antonio Spurs and earning almost $18 million in 2017, he definitely has enough money to drive whatever he wants. However, he still drives the 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe. Of course, it is in mint condition. Obviously, this guy isn’t into cars that much and once he said he will drive it for as long as he can. “It is a fine car, it paid off”.

Anyone else noticed how much farther back Rory's previous gal has the seat pulled back in that Ferrari?

The one car I would love would be the older Supra turbo from the 90's. A dealer in Calgary had a NEW one for sale last year for approx 75k !! SWEEEEET

Even if you can afford it what's the point of like 35 cars? With how often these guys travel you're driving some of them what, once every 2 years?

The racing driver point is a great one. Michael Schumacher used to drive a Fiat 500. A very good friend races GT3 stuff and he drives a Golf, and he could drive whatever he wants.

I’ve asked him a couple of times why he doesn’t drive faster stuff, and he says that there is no way that you can drive any road car even close to the limit without getting banned, and if you can’t drive flat out then it’s simply not fun for a racer who spends their life pushing cars to the limit. That gets even more the case when you have a supercar, because even on an empty road you can’t get close to the limit.

They simply don’t see the joy in driving at road speeds, as they are able to push so much harder when they’re racing. Even my granny can drive flat out in a straight line, but it’s cornering that separates good drivers from bad. The top guys can go so much faster than us, that they can’t get close to their limit on the road, so they don’t try!

C'mon now. Who cares what part of the collecting makes them happy?

I am not really a collector, So I don't get it as much I guess. I mean I dug a well in my basement which took alot of work, but for the life of me I just can't bring myself to keep anyone in there.
