Still enjoying my VL with $-Taper 125s and just ordered the OL 5 & 6 Irons with $-Tapers as well, since they were 30% on the Black Friday and free shipping.

Just wondering if playing 5-7 in OL might be more consistent for me and keep the VL in the rest as I am very happy with them.

Rox

I didn’t this exact thing....5-6 OL and then 7-Gw in Variable length. Works great for me.

I’m excited-any issues with stopping in the 5 & 6 OL compared to the VL on the greens?

For the investment of two additional clubs, it offers a good trial period to compare without buying an extra set of OL.

I think I could game a OL 8 iron, but 9 into the wedges just seem too long and I’m not a big fan of the higher ballflight on the OL wedges given the windy conditions I play in quite often.

Waiting for my 4-7 OL F8s as well. If the flight is ok I see no downside to this especially if a guy doesn't struggle with the short irons.

Agreed!

I’m looking for improved consistency with my long iron play, but the scoring irons are the best part of my game so I’m inclined to leave well enough alone.

Honestly no problems at all. Best part is way more consistent ball striking and expected distances every time. I think it’s genius to play ol in the long irons and then regular in rest of the set. If you have no problems in those clubs. For me, struggled a little with 4-6 iron lengths but not anymore.

Having told myself I would wait to hit the F9s, I found a deal too good to pass up, and bit the bullet on the FTBs. When I started looking I was shooting mid 90s to high 80s, and in the two/three months since I have dropped it to consistently low to mid 80s. This is with a dodgy PGF beginners set of irons, f7 driver, f8 fairway, king 58 versatile wedge and TM spider mini.

Hitting them in store was a whole different experience. I felt I had far more control, and I actually lost nothing in distance. For reference, on 25 shots I averaged 164m with a 7i which is about 182 yards.

I went with all irons from 3-GW, and will replace my kit SW with a king 54 soon.

Should be arriving withinin 2 weeks - can’t wait!

For those who ordered one length in the long irons, did you order the actual OL long irons with the blue in the cavity, or get the VL long irons at the same specs as the OL?

I ordered the actual One Length 5 & 6 irons in the length of my Variable length 7 iron.

Just picked up at variable length set of these and enjoying them from what I have hit indoors. For anyone that has played them have you noticed that the head feels heavy? I ordered them at D1 swing weight and everything was on for swing weight but the head just feels heavier in comparison to a few others sets I have with similar shaft weights.

Any lower handicappers playing these?

They are on my radar too.....actually one of the best deals on the market. They are low priced for a forged/semi forged head and come with the widest shaft offering of any non premium line.

You can get Modus3 130's with these babies at no upcharge. That's crazy!

I purchased the FTB 4-GW Project X LZ 6.0 late last year and they are the best irons I have ever played. With the Cobra Connect and Arccos, I have been playing consistently lower scores(mid 90s - now mid/high 80s). Definitely worth the $$.

I am a +1, best irons I have ever hit, talked a buddy 4 handicap into getting them too, he has never hit it better...

Look good at address, not blades but look great, very very good feel and forgiveness and super long and accurate.

Get some, they are better than anything out IMO

Forged Tec Blacks 5 thru GW / 54° and 58° King Black wedges versatile grinds.

Made a few loft angle adjustments , to even out my yardage gaps .( See my signature ). Solid set of clubs , good distance, great feel and durability.

Loft for loft , almost 1 club longer than my Hogan FTW 15 , I play when the

course is firm ( nostalgia reasons ) . Being a little old and stubborn, still

playing from the 6700 - 6400 yards , These along with a bunch of hybrids allow

me to keep my scores in the mid/lower 70's... 100+ rounds on these....

I actually have not, only hit the Forged Tec (non black) and liked them fine. The blacks i think are a little smaller. My golftown doesn't stock them

So i would have to order them sight unseen if i wanted. I just meant they are a good deal because i've read good reviews, the forged Tec seemed good, and the no-upcharge shaft list is very impressive for the price

I am coming from Forged Tec blacks and while I would argue they may be the most gorgeous irons I have ever seen I am too new for them and struggle with consistency. My friend who is a professional and was sponsored by cobra gave them to me.

I went and hit the ping 410's and hit them well. Was also eyeing the Ping i500's but wondering if anyone has hit both the forged Tec's and the i500's as they may be a little too similar and I would suffer the same issues?

The FTB's feel about 1000x better than the i500. Make sure you try the Pings so you know what they sound and feel like. Otherwise, good irons.

I have the i500 and the Forged Tec Black and will agree that overall the FTB feel better especially on mishits but once I got use to the i500s I actually enjoy the feel if you hit centre more often then not. Its a powerful thud that I find similar to my i200s I played for a few years. Best to try them, they also sound/ feel better outside. Just my opinion. Both are amazing sets

+ 1 on this. I came from Ping iE1s and tried out the i500s before buying, and the FTBs felt way better. I ended up getting the King Forged CBs 5-GW and the FTB 4i (1* weak to get 4* gaps throughout), and actually just ordered the 3i as well since I hit the FTB 4i only a few yards shorter than my king black utility at 18*. My only complaint would be that the higher irons are a little chunky to my eye which is why I went with the CBs. Ping does a better job of hiding the heft on their irons IMO.

Side note - I would've done a more traditional blended set at the 7i but the lofts are a jacked on the FTB. Don't regret it at all, as the CBs aren't scary once you get used to them and the forged 1-piece feels amazing.
