New wedges vs new bag

I have a shop credit and i am trying to decide between new wedges or a new bag.

 

I have a 52, 58 sm6 which are in very good condition but i would like to go back to a 50/55/60 with different bounce and grind for more versatility.

 

And i have at the moment 2 golf bags. One for the push cart and one to carry..i really like to carry and my sm 3.5 is in very good shape but i cant used it on my pysh cart for the hot days of summers. So i am looking at the ping hoofer because it can go on the push cart. That way i would have only one bag which is something i would really like...

 

I know.... problem of the first worlds.

I’m gonna go wedges on this one. A nice new set of grooves in the wedges can help you on the course, while a bag can be obtained used. Used wedges are going to be a toss-up with grooves.

 

Of course I’ve already assumed at the end of the day you will wind up with both, but I think if youre going to spend on new, the wedges are the more influential component. (And I’ve been shopping wedges awhile as well so that’s what I’m in the mood for)

The funny thing is, when described your bag, I said out loud "dont play him for money"

 

Then I finished your story. Great stuff.

I hear you on first world problems. I have 3 bags: carry, optimal for pull cart, and optimal for cart. And I kind of like pulling everything out and making sure I have rangefinder, etc! But one bag that did everything well would sure simplify my life.

I also have 3 wedge sets, though, so that could probably be simplified too!

Wedges. Bag will be a necessity at some point but not yet.

Alternatively, buy another iron set, and just have two totally different bag setuos ready to go at any moment! 'Oh, we're walking? Guess it's the Titleists, then!'

it is actually the base of the bag that doesnt sit well on the cart. Because of the external pedal unlike the hoofer. But thanks.

Has to be wedges. Bag won't help shoot lower scores. I know this has been said, but seconding the vote.

If you think the new wedge set up will help you lower your scores, definitely go that route. And, as others have pointed out, you can sell the old wedges and possibly the old bags and get enough for a new bag... lots of sales going on right now, too.
