Has anyone played these vs the utx midsize?

Wondering if a players cord "plus" model with 3 full wraps would be equivalent to the utx midsize?

or even better if someone could post a pic of both, are the butt caps the same size?

I have. I will post a pic later.

Utx midsize is very firm compared to players cord. However, I'd say standard size players cord is equivalent to utx midsize, not standard.

Both are great, I was a fan of being able to get utx for $5 a grip.

Curious if anyone out there has tried both of these grips? I’m currently using utx but I need to regrip my irons and the players cord has me intrigued. I typically build up the right hand of the utx in any case so the “plus” model players cord might be the ticket. Thanks!

I don't like the thicker bottom hand grips, it feels softer/gooey compared to just building up with tape

Have used both - Players cord is obviously.... cord and the UTx is kind of like a rougher rubber if that makes sense? Also, the PC grip has a bit less taper on the bottom hand which is nice. I used them on my wedges all year but switched out because they started to give me blisters from all the practice I was doing.

I didn't find any difference in "firmness" between the two like others said... If anything I thought UTx was a bit more soft/mushy than the PC grip. The one huge plus I will give to the PC though is they are incredible in rain... so good in fact that I think they are actually more grippy when wet than dry. I played once in the pouring rain and with a FJ rain glove, my wedges felt glued to my hand. So if you play in rain or have sweaty hands then I'd go PC for sure.

The UTx uses what Lamkin calls their ACE 3GEN material. This is some sort of synthetic rubber and has a different feel compared to natural rubber. I've used UTx grips many times and they are good but my personal preference is for a natural rubber feel. The ACE material is super durable so that much is good. No idea about the Players cord nor the taper aspect.

Awesome, that would be great.

Ideally I'm after a grip that doesn't have much taper. I like the feel of the softer cord/smoother texture like the GP BCT but with less taper. But they don't make them for the public in midsize.

The Lamkin seem to have less taper in the utx and plus models. I like the texture/feel of the players cord from holding the uninstalled grips, very similar to the BCT. Nice you can get them with a rib too.

if u like the softness of bct and players cord, and even plus models like the +4, I think you will find the utx rougher than you may like. sound like most of us don't mind, but something to be aware of.

This is the main difference.

I find the 3gen material adds some tack.

The players cord is kinda like the crossline cord with a bit less aggressive cord.

I found the crossline cords actually.had too much cord for me that i lost grip. The utx were perfect.

Ive never tried the players cord other then on a demo grip. It feels like its somewhere between the 2. Its definetly less tacky then the utx.

The utx when you freshly cleaned them were like velcro

The difference between the Crossline cord and the Players cord isn't really the cord but the pattern in the rubber.

I was in love with the UTx grip until I tried the Players Cord. The Players Cord is a touch firmer than the UTx which makes it a little more durable.

Both are great grips but the Players Cord just feels a little nicer to me and wears a little better.

I currently use the UTx grips, and they're one of my 2 favorite grips of all time. I've been a long time user of the Lamkin Crossline, and have switched back and forth between the 2 over the years. The UTx is less harsh on my hands than the Crossline grip is. The cord on the UTx is there, but it doesn't tear up my hands. I've used the PC grips before, but it was so long ago, that I can't give an honest assessment of them.

I think the OP is taking about the Players Cord that was released about a year ago.

UTX is on a club, pc is not. but I took pictures of the butt end so it should be pretty much as big as that would be on a club

If you don't mind spending more, I would do player cord. But I replace my grips pretty much as soon as I see any wear, so I'm not really trying to spend that much twice a season unless I'm winning money. UTX is best grip for money in my opinion, especially if you're good at eBay
