Does the lead tape help with getting the lower irons in the air at all?

 

From where its placed, I tend to think he hits down on it a bit and the ball hits higher on the face. If the face is a little thin up high it can feel less solid. I always prefer higher weighted blades just because I have a bit too much downward approach and occasionally hit some balls too high on the face. If its thin, they really feel clunky.

Wow, these are great looking irons. BUT the top view would scare the crap out of me if I set up to these during a round. Looks like something Nicklaus would be using in the 60s. I need a lot more forgiveness than these could ever provide. But they do look good though.

Correct. The 1 to 2 grams shown is insignificant. Probably trying to balance SW. Or, as others' stated: It's a "head thing".

I really like Wilson irons, these look 90% great but kinda unfinished in my eyes...

It looks as if they took a finished iron and then decided they needed to change the CG of it, so they sent it off to R&D who then milled a bunch of weight out of the heel area. And then they just left it...

The rest of the club is nice smooth lines, chrome plating... then a big chunk milled out... its like once they found the correct weighting that they didn't go back to clean up the design.

 

I'm also curious about the hole in the heel

Is that going to remain like that? Is it there just for testing, so players can swap shafts?

Will the production model have a plug there? or will there be no hole at all?

Yep they are in there , Woodland 5iron hole in one. Guess Wilson doesn’t suck (note sarcasm)

Don't think so.. the shape and color of the driver is not like an M3. Hopefully a better look will be shown, especially with the hole in one today

is it just me, or does that look a whole lot like a Maltby DBM head without the stamping?

 

It is a Maltby DBM. That company uses it for their training aid, with their graphics on it. Probably chose it because the DBM finish is so durable and lasts a long time
