Typically, I will carry 6-12 balls. If I'm going to a place I know is harsh or unknown to me, I'll carry more. Usually not an issue as more often than not, I'll be riding if it's a resort course.

I agree with Jag, that if I need more than 6 - I'm likely done. Occasionally, that doesn't apply. A few years ago I played Dove Mountain. After about 7 holes I did the mental math and began to think I might need to buy some balls at the turn (queue the flop sweat). I had lost a couple of provisionals and a few more that were in sight, but unhittable and irretrievable due to the dense thorny stuff. Fortunately, I regained my form and my senses and only required 2 balls after that point.

Normally under a dozen. The other day I started a round with 4 balls in the bag, just wasn't paying attention. Luckily I finished with the same 4. That doesn't happen too often though.

How in the world does someone lose 7 balls on a single hole? Kill me if I'm placed behind your league. Pick up dude, you're laying 10!

I could see why you would say that but we actually plsy really fast. We go out first to set a good pace. We usually finish in just over an hour and a half. Buddy who loses a lot of balls, never takes a practice swing and is always ready to go. He took the place of a guy who was a scratch golfer but made Patrick Cantlay look like a jack rabbit. Our average finishing time has came down almost 20 mins.

The most you've used is 3.....is that per hole! I call BS.... do you only play on courses with no water, no trees, extra wide fairways, no cliffs, no hills... come on man you're a 14 cap and par golfers can lose more than that on a tough track on any windy day lol!

I cant remember using more than 3. Some days i may have used a couple of pick ups. I don't lose many though. Using 1 ball for 3 rounds is quite common. Believe what you like. Yes ours is woodland course. One lake in play on 2 holes.

Getting to the point where I could comfortably play most courses with no more than three balls in the bag was a major achievement for me. Only had to abandon a round on a couple of occasions.

I’m not old enough. I’m only 58 and I figure I’ve got 7 more years before I’m allowed to carry one. ;)

2 sleeves and one sleeve in the bottom of my bag just in case. A while ago in league play I had a Tin Cup moment and took a 14 on an easy par 4 when I kept dunking ball after ball in the lake. Sometimes stuff happens.

Usually around a dozen. If I scuff one I'll swap it the next hole and use it on tough driving holes or par 3s over water just in case. Usually swap 3-4 balls a round. Or sometimes I'll just play the one ball. Depending on how I'm feeling.

I walk the majority of my rounds, carry 4 balls, never had to make the “walk of shame.” I can hear my wife now, “ you what ? lost all your golf balls before you where done ? why didnʻt you fo in the clubhouse and get some more? “ SMH

..... one time i think i had to scrounge one up from the rough to finish the last few holes.

Hahaha!! I just hit 50 last year and I finally caved in and got that collapsible igotcha retriever. I just despise losing a perfectly good ball I can still see.

I figured I could live with myself and the stereotype if I could hide it in my side pocket. I don’t think it’s even 2 feet long before opening it. Stealth mode. ; )

How many balls I carry is way different than how many balls I use per round. I end up carrying wayyyy too many - like 20 loose old balls/found balls that never make it to my shagbag. I always make sure i have two sleeves of new gamers though to play with.

No wonder my bag is getting heavier and heavier....

If I go back to the Scottsdale area, I will likely buy one like that since I've seen too many $$ balls get left behind because I wasn't willing to risk hacking my arms and legs up (or finding a snake) for a ball.

I usually carry several in my used ball pouch and a dozen new in a side pocket. I play with customers a lot and I like to be able to offer them new balls if they run out (common). It just a nice gesture.

Now, if you want to know how many I USE in a round? It varies. Just playing a casual round on a resort course, I have played 18 with the same ball several times. On a tough course (forced carries over 200 yds, ravines and lakes at the edge of fwys, horrible soggy conditions or really deep rough) 2 or 3 is not uncommon. In corporate scrambles where I am constantly trying to hit shots that I would never try otherwise, it can be scary!
