Lake woodmore is a beautiful, significant body of water.

Eagle wont invite me out to play. I guess because he knows I wont join, no use having me out for a round.

(thats an absolute lie)

Wish I knew some other guys that had joined.

I cant think of any really great courses on the water in the area where you can actually see a lot of the water.

The Country Club at Haines Point comes closest.

Swan Point maybe the most underrated but while that three or four hole stretch is amazing - thats it. Bonus points for hitting Captain Johns Crab Shack after golf though.

Impossible to top that week.

Spent the weekend at RTJ and then played Caves a few days later.

Man that was so fun.

Hive Tommy’s dad is a member at RTJ. I’d play there more often if it wasn’t for the steep guest rate.

DC - hit me up if you wanna get out at woodmore. I’m thinking of loading up on some cheap guest passes but they have a rack rate as well. I’m sure you have a member for a day pass on your email from eagle as well.

Pine Ridge has the water feature into the course just enough.

You hit over the reservoir to holes 8 and 14.

You can hook one into the water on 11 or 15 pretty easily or 4 less easily (or 5 if you're a lefty who swings 120 mph). But beyond that, there are some nice views over the water. From the 8th tee box, there's a long, unobstructed view over the water. Looking back from the 12th tee, you can see the 15th green and a large expanse of water, and also from the whole length of the 15th hole and 16th tee. There's nice "tree framed" (tree obstructed?) views from 2nd/18th tee boxes, 2 green/3 tee.

Rocky point is on the bay, which is cool, but you barely get the water. The 11th is sweet, but the water isn't really in play. 14/15 sort of have views of the little estuary, or whatever that inlet is called. But, in reality RP always disappoints me because it doesn't use the water enough.

I wish Pine Ridge was closer to me. I really enjoy that course. Between the travel distance, and need to tee off first or face a very long round, it's just not really in my rota.

I believe this. PR is still where my aunt/uncle play, its only a few miles from where they live in Towson.

If Pine Ridge lost a thousand trees and has the conditions of Waverly, you could charge 90 bucks.

Shoot, given that it's booked wall to wall every day, you could probably charge 90 bucks now.

I think 27 holes with a caddy at RTJ last year was approaching $250 after tips and all that.

This sounds about right. There were 7 of us and the member and so we just chopped everything for the rounds/meals for two days - so $250 seems in line with that.

I don't play it often, but even a few times a year the conditions always impress me.

The MAJOR problem with Pine Ridge is the patchiness of the rough.

As y'all know, i'm not a "conditions" guy. I don't care about perfect greens, or flat tee boxes, but I don't like sitting on bare spots in the rough with long grass surrounding the ball, especially around the greens. And that's from too many trees/not enough light/things I don't understand.

But the greens are always in good shape there. The fairways, not always, but they're usually fine.

what's cool about Pine Ridge (and other courses, but I've really noticed it there) is how much conditions can change through the year. If it's been a little dry in the summer, and the trees start retaining some water, the place can get VERY firm, which is fun. Holes some holes can play 20-30 yards shorter. Balls that used to sit will run into bad positions (like on 15). I've hit 280 yard 4-woods on 13.

I've also played it frozen a lot and bounced balls off the reservoir to hold the 14th green.

GTF:

Does anybody remember the last time your tee shot rolled in the DMV area.

PS; 2 feet of roll does not count

This picture represents about 2 feet more than my ball has typically been rolling out. . .

The ball was going forever during that early summer drought this year. I remember playing a round at Waverly when it was about a bazillion degrees, and the course was hard as cement. It played pretty short, even from the tommee tippees. Then flood season returned a couple weeks later, and the course played about 1000 yards longer from the same tees.

Ground will be frozen this weekend, so I'm looking forward to some roll.

RTJ? pretty sure we've got reciprocal status with them. shouldn't be an issue.

Whaaaa?! This membership is getting better and better. I need a training course on what comes with this membership and all the benefits associated with it.
