WITB overhaul - long time coming

Recommended Posts

Been playing with the same clubs for the last ~5-10 years, only playing a handful of times each season, but got really back into the game this year playing 90+ rounds and dropping the handicap by a few points. When this game bites it doesn't let go.

Learned a lot about my game, got fitted, and pieced together this new bag over the last few months replacing every one of my old clubs.

Final pick up was the Cobra 3w and I'm really happy with how everything came together. Been rotating between the prov1, tp5 and the X counterparts; still trying to decide on what suits me best.

Have some trips booked to mexico and Ireland in the new year and am thrilled to have a fully overhauled new bag to bring with me.

G400 LST (10° playing at 9°) - Rogue limited edition 125msi 60TX

Cobra F7 3W (14.5°) - Fujikura 65X

RBZ Stage 2 Tour 2h (16.5° playing at 18°) - Accra HF tour M4

Mizuno JPX-900 Forged (4-GW) - Project X LZ 5.5

Vokey SM7 54, 58

May I ask... Why the 5.5LZ but 60TX driver shaft? The 5.5LZ must feel like total noodles compared to Rogue 125. Did you get fit at TXG being in Toronto?
Yeah I found it strange too, but the 5.5 is what I was hitting best and at 115g they feel pretty sturdy.

And yes got fitted at TXG, had a good experience. Great facility they have

Cool. Got fit there, too... Even traveled in from the states because I knew they are some of the best.

Yeah you should haha. Nobody that I know of within a reasonable driving distance uses GCQ for fittings, which I think is superior indoors. That plus all of the insane knowledge and expertise Ian has... It's worth the time/money to go see him. Even if Ian isn't around, Mac was awesome and I'm sure Cam is, too.

Once I get my HC lowered again, I plan to go back for a refresh, although probably just for the woods, maybe ball. I don't plan on changing my iron shafts ever, and I think these Miuras will be plenty of club for pretty much as long as they stay working. Miiiight buy a set of 760's (which is what I got fit in to) just to see if the added forgiveness makes any noticeable lowering of my scores. Might play first half of the year with my Miuras then the 2nd half with the 760's once a few used sets pop up.

Got fit into VA comp shafts across the board, too, but I just couldn't swing the cost. If/when I find deals, I will be snatching those up, too.

I can see how you are playing the 5.5 honestly the 6.0 lz felt stiffer than my x100. Lz doesn't really load for my swing. Feels really boardy.

Great setup! Nice to see another 125MSI still out there. I bought one used off a member here about a month ago and put it in an Epic SZ (may try it in the LTD Pro I bought as well). Feels very stable without being boardy and dispersion has been great from my range session.

TXG is an amazing facility from what I hear / see on YouTube. Ian is incredible knowledgeable and I would consider making the drive from Long Island as well for a fitting. Maybe even challenge Matt to a longest drive :pimp: lol. Did they fit you in the 125MSI?

I am jealous of your Golf trips! Enjoy!

Thanks and yeah I've played a few rounds with it since it's been a mild Nov/Dec so far and I've been getting very good results. I ended up finding one on my local golf forum too, couldn't pass it up.

I was not fitted for it actually. Truth be told I wasn't swinging the driver great during the fitting session and ended up focusing more on the irons. But from what I knew about the shaft, and my desired traj, when I saw it for sale I thought it would be perfect and so far it's lived up to my expectations.

Heading up to TXG on the weekend for some practice time on the GCquad. I'm swinging the best in my life at the moment so excited to get some accurate club/ball numbers.

Where do you usually play on long Island? I'm hoping to do a roadie down there either next year or the following year (pilgrimage to Bethpage)

This Cobra f7 is quickly becoming a personal favourite. Absolutely bombing it off the deck, high and long even lofted down to 13°. Still toying around finding the optimal loft. Love how the blue crown looks in the daylight

Also watched mark crossfield's review of it and he gets some good numbers taking the weights out completely, and just playing it with the screws in. I think I've found similar results, will confirm on GCquad this weekend 82e2d6333ab5e4096e48179fa29778c0.jpg
