In case anyone was worried - I emailed CS and asked about their cancellation policy. They confirmed that you can cancel at any time.

 

The $1 deal seems like... uh, that can't be good for their bottom line if a bunch of people jump on it, but I figure it's worth a shot. I'm going to assume that the box they send out next will not be quiiiiite as valuable as the box that was sent out to reviewers (with the Arccos thing in it). But hey, I'm positive I'll get $1 of worth out of it.

All it says on my account is that the order has been shipped. There’s no way of tracking it though.

I just got email showing my tracking information says box weighs 1.3 lbs so not expecting much

Same. I went to their website to check if mine had shipped and then immediately received the DHL shipping information email. 1.55 lbs for weight on mine.

After a week, I got a shipping confirmation email. Box weight is 1.8 lbs. I guess they were playing the waiting game with us. I’m sure they were trying to see how many people would cancel their subscription so they could just refund them their dollar back instead.

Not tying to get on my high horse but wait a minute, while I get on my high horse... Why would you cancel without even seeing the box? They offered the $1 box not to get themselves hosed but to entice you to try their service. Canceling before giving them a fair shot seems crappy.

That's your opinion. It's business. They are betting that more people will stay than leave, or at least get a second box, giving them a small profit. They know people will cancel after one. If something is on sale, do you say "Oh no, I'll pay the full amount!" Businesses have sales to bring you in, knowing people will buy other things to make them a profit. It's no different in this case.

The fact that their’s is a subscription service makes the difference. I’m not saying someone couldn’t or shouldn’t cancel, I’m just arguing (for the sake of argument), that doing so before receiving the product seems off.

As a general rule I try to cancel stuff as soon as it's on the brain so that I don't forget to cancel. Subscription services rely on people forgetting to cancel. If I like the first box, I'll re-subscribe... maybe.
